Seria grimaced as she realized that her first opponent for this tournament was going to be Astrid, who she had overall a fairly bad matchup against. But this time, she was going to pull out all the stops in order to make it to the next round. Hopefully. She had to win this round and then the next round in order to make it to the finals. But this wouldn't be easy. She felt like she was the weakest of all the people who signed up for the tournament, and thus she wasn't feeling as confident as she should. But regardless, she had to do her best. She stepped up to the plate in order to make her presence known. " Do your worst." Seria called out to her opponent, with a voice and certain aura about her that once again betrayed the notion of her typically slow and dopey yet chirpy nature. She seemed focused in some sort of demonic way, Seria set out to prove a point this time, not to be some sort of casual battler who did it for pleasure. " Open out, Seyoung." Seria said with a straight face as she threw out a Pokeball and sent out her Galvantula, Seyoung. He was Electric/Bug which meant that Earthquake wouldn't instagib him. And he could use Volt Switch to get out of sticky situations if it was possible. Action: Seyoung the Galvantula was sent outAnd Seria armed him with HP Fire, which would catch Steel-types off guard. He would certainly make an admirable lead. Paging Astrid Sherinian

"My worst?" Astrid repeated. She'd been relieved seeing that Seria was her first opponent. Not because it would be an easy fight. Actually, she was hoping, mostly for Seria, that it wouldn't be. But a familiar opponent was still a relief for her first big tournament like this. From the sounds of it, Seria was planning on going all out against her. Good. That was good. But Astrid was still going to give this and the next round everything she had. She wanted to make it all the way to the finals.
Astrid grinned as she took her place, waving up at the audience. "Well, if it's my worst you want, there's only one answer to that. Lunatic, center stage!" she called out. Her voice was strong and full of energy, the kind she took on to fill an auditorium. She spun in place, drawing out Lunatic's pokeball and throwing it out onto the field. In a flash of light and...sparkles, her Clefable appeared, looking about as innocent as usual. Knowing their last battle, Astrid suspected that Seria was prepared for Steel types, which meant she had to be careful using Magnate and Quadraxis. Lunatic, though, would be much harder to counter.

"Seyoung, use Volt Switch." Seria said confidently as the tarantula began to vibrate in place, gathering an electrical charge, and soon he charged straight into the Clefable. Seria had completely forgotten about the fact that she didn't have an effective counter to Fairy-type Pokemon, and unfortunately for her, Clefable was one of the better ones. She probably couldn't stall the Pokemon out with Severa either, because the Clefable most likely had Magic Guard, which would render her immune to the Poison. In any case, Seria only had one other option to change through Volt Switch. As the tarantula slammed into the Clefable with electricity, he was returned back into the Pokeball.
"Your turn, Carrie." Seria exchanged Pokeballs and sent out her Cincinno. The Clefable probably didn't have anything to deal with Normal types super-effectively, while Carrie had some tricks of her own, so Astrid would have to think twice about what she would do. She could have sent out G.S.D instead but Seria respected the large number of attacks that the Clefable could do and she probably had Thunderbolt.

Aha! So Seria did have some more ideas up her sleeve this time! Lunatic had only just taken the stage, and her Galvantula was giving her a parting gift of sorts and returning. Electricity slammed into the Clefable, enough to cover the electrical spider's escape, but it only dealt a small amount of damage. And then, a Cinccino appeared in its place. A strong enough Pokemon, although not exactly the sturdiest. Even though Lunatic didn't have anything super effective against such a Pokemon, she suspected that two solid hits would still be able to take it out.
"Not bad, not bad. But Lunatic's a bit stronger than you're giving her credit for. Even without type advantage, you should never underestimate fairy magic!" She thrust her arm out, dramatically pointing down the field as she called out, "Lunatic, Moonblast!" The Clefable grinned, her eyes gleamed, and like a shower of light moonbeams fell on the field from the sky, crashing down on the field in a barrage of moonlight and fairy magic.

Seria stood her ground as she saw the Clefable grin and she made a shower of light moonbeams fall from the sky, Carrie weathered the attack as best as she could but it seemed she'll only be able to handle one more attack. Seria didn't have anything that was super-effective against Fairy-types. Fortunately, Carrie still had a strong attack of her own. Unfortunately, she'd only be able to do so much damage to the opposing Pokemon before she'd croak to the second Moonblast. Carrie being knocked out was all but ensured, sadly. "Carrie, use Tail Slap on the Clefable." Seria said calmly once more. She tried to give herself an air of severity, as if she was trying to turn herself into a different person on the ring. She wondered if it was working.
The Cincinno tamped the ground with her tail and leapt at the Clefable in order to strike furiously five times with her thick tail, it was ensured that the maximum number of hits would come out thanks to "Skill Link."
Though of course it could miss.

Hah! A direct hit, and despite the best efforts of the Cinccino, it had taken a pretty solid hit from it. Astrid pumped her fist, seeing the after-effects. It was, of course, still strong enough to fight back, and did so with a combo of whipping attacks from its tail. Such an attack should have only hit a variable number of times, but the Cinccino easily landed all five of them. That...was a bit more troubling than the Volt Switch from earlier. It was clear that Lunatic wouldn't be able to take another hit like that either.
But, hopefully, she wouldn't have to.
"Moonblast again!" Astrid called out. Again, Lunatic's eyes gleamed as a rain of magical moonbeams fell on the field in a barrage on the Cinccino. Astrid wasn't going to stop and celebrate this time, though. She was already trying to think ahead to her next move, for what Pokemon would come next or if it somehow didn't work.

Seria grit her teeth as predictably, the Clefable still stood and was able to launch another attack in response. Once again the shining beams of moonlight fell upon the Cincinno, and throughout this flashy lights display Seria stroked and rubbed her chin in thought. Clefable was a fairly bulky Pokemon and she wondered if any of her Pokemon were properly equipped to battle that. Sighing, once Carrie received the full brunt of the attack, Seria sighed and recalled the fallen Cincinno, who was knocked unconscious without much action, she had simply fallen over. "Come on, Antenora." Seria said bluntly as she threw out another Pokeball and sent out her Sawsbuck.
"Antenora, use your Horn Leech and try to finish that Clefable off." Seria said as the Sawsbuck rubbed her hooves on the ground and charged at the Pokemon, attempting to ram her great antlers into the fairy to try and knock her out.

Thankfully, the second Moonblast was enough to finish off the Cinccino. That had two benefits. First, it meant that Astrid had the upper hand. Naturally. Second, she had now seen two of Seria's team, downed one, and could plan around the other. That just left one more to deal with, and if Seria sent it out now...oh, it was her Sawsbuck. Astrid grinned. "Nice to see this girl again," she said. "But I don't think Lunatic's the right one to greet her." The Clefable pouted, but Astrid held out her pokeball anyway. "Come on back, Lunatic! And take her place, Quadraxis!"
In a flash of red light, Lunatic disappeared back into the pokeball, and in her place, the gigantic four-legged wall of steel (and also robot) that was Quadraxis appeared. It dropped to the ground with a heavy thud, creating small tremors where it landed, and stood directly in the Sawsbuck's path. The attack still connected, but did drastically less damage than what it would have to Lunatic. "Would you call this a grudge match?" Astrid asked, still in her 'fill the stadium' voice. "Or just Round 2?"

Seria sighed, gritting her teeth further as she saw Astrid recall her Clefable and send out a Metagross, which pretty much shrugged off the attack. Scratching her head, Seria thought on what to do. It probably still had Ice Punch. Switching out would be futile. Leaving Antenora in would also probably be a bad idea. Switching to G.S.D would be a bad idea too. He'd get nuked by a Thunder Punch. Seria was at a loss as to how to handle this. Then again, she wasn't here for nothing. She had to show her tenacity in the face of adversity. Her voice trembled. She was beginning to get nervous. "Antenora, use Swords Dance."
Seria knew she was taking a big risk. She knew that Antenora would only be able to handle two Ice Punches. She'd tank this one and still have enough life to do some damage. But it wouldn't be enough to take out the Metagross. Still, she had little choice. She wasn't liking her chances of winning. "Do you enjoy these theatrics? I'm envious of your charisma at times." Seria quipped back in return, as the deer Pokemon trotted in place and prepared herself to do extra damage.
Antenora used Swords Dance. +2 stages of ATK.

Swords dance. That could be trouble if the Sawsbuck had anything more dangerous, but with any luck it wouldn't. Astrid was pretty confident in her chances, but getting carried away would just lead to her being screwed over. She'd seen it happen before when Ollie went up against Crispin's Zubat. She wasn't about to let it happen here too.
A question came her way, about her theatrics. "I'm an ex-pop star who spend almost four years performing. It comes with the territory," she said, this time in a normal voice where only Seria and a few people on the front rows were likely to hear her. "And yes, I do still enjoy putting on a show." Now, it was back to her announcer voice as she called out to her Metagross. "Ice Punch!" she shouted. Quadraxis wound up, then lunged forward and thrust one of its massive metal legs towards the Sawsbuck. Just before the punch hit, ice crystals formed on the spikes on its foot, giving a freezing effect to the attack.

Seria sighed. Predictably, the Metagross did strike back with the Ice Punch. As Astrid said she was an ex-pop star who spent many years performing, it did make sense after all. Seria wasn't sure why she bothered asking at that rate. As the Metagross punched the Sawsbuck with a freezing leg, Seria shrugged and looked almost casual about the whole situation at this rate. "I see. I don't know why I even bothered asking," she said calmly, looking visibly shaken up. Her body betrayed the way she was speaking so calmly and out of character. It was clear that the outcome of the battle was getting to her head, and not in a particularly good way. Seria had already acknowledged from the get-go that this would be difficult. She had entered the tournament with her favourites, but the way this was going, she was going to lose in the first round.
"Antenora, you won't live to see the next turn, I won't think. Well, anyway, do your best. Strike back with Megahorn." Seria finished with her own command, watching as the deer Pokemon started charging at full speed into the Metagross to try one last-ditch attempt at pleasing her trainer with a fearsome antler attack.

Seria's reaction was disheartening. A sigh, then a calm but less than pleasant response that did little to hide the fact that she was unhappy about where the battle was going. Astrid frowned. She wished there was more she could do, but short of throwing the battle, there really wasn't anything in the moment. And she wasn't going to do that. Certainly not after last time. All she could do was to keep going until the end.
The counterattack came. A Megahorn. The Sawsbuck followed the command without hesitation, slamming into the giant robot with all the force it could muster. And it was an impressive blow, even forcing Quadraxis back a few feet through sheer momentum. But in the end, it was still standing, and still easily able to keep going. "Ice Punch!" Astrid called. She would still put on a show, but now she just wanted to get this over quickly. It would be less painful for Seria that way.
Quadraxis seemed to be feeling the same, as it wasted no time with the windup and instead delivered the freezing punch as quickly and directly as it could.

Seria grumbled.
It was three-on-three. She had completely forgotten about the format.
She was going to be mincemeat for sure. Giggling uncomfortably to herself, she took out the Pokeball containing Seyoung after Antenora had been cleanly knocked out by the attack. "Ahahaha... well..." Seria looked pretty distressed at this point. She threw out the Pokeball and out came the Galvantula. Seyoung didn't seem to have any qualms about attacking. But with the way Seria was now struggling to keep herself composed and practically sane, it came off as a bit disturbing. This is hopeless. This is utterly hopeless. I've driven myself into a corner. I deserve to lose as badly as I did. Seria thought to herself.
"Well, no use crying over spilt milk... Seyoung, use Hidden Power." Seria said, her legs quivering as the Galvantula also shook. He concentrated and soon let out a flashy display of red lights, all being thrown at the Metagross. It wouldn't do too much but it was all Seria could do.
"You better freaking win over your next opponent, whoever the hell that may be. I won't forgive you if you lose." Seria almost scowled. But she was too busy looking on the verge of tears to make it seem like she was angry.

Just one left. The Sawsbuck was easily knocked out by the second Ice Punch, and that left only the Galvantula Seria had opened with. And that, Astrid could easily take out. And sure enough the Galvantula came back out, and blasted Quadraxis with a Hidden Power. Clearly of a type that Quadraxis was weak to (probably fire, given the red orbs), because the bombardment was just enough to finish it off as well. The giant robot didn't even collapse, just sank to the ground and shut down. "Hah...I guess I deserved that. But I still have my other robot buddy! The one who's been with me ever since I got here!"
Astrid recalled Quadraxis, then spun on the spot and threw out one last Pokeball. The metal UFO-like Magnezone appeared from it, giving a distorted cry as it materialized and started floating low over the ground. Astrid broke from her showy attitude for a second as Seria demanded that she win over the next opponent as well. "Wow, no pressure," she remarked briskly. Then, she returned to her announcer voice as she said "Magnate, use your own Hidden Power!" The Magnezone's magnets began spinning, generating glowing orbs of energy at their poles. Magnate fired them off in its own flashy red barrage at the Galvantula.

Seria heaved as she saw that it appeared to be that the Metagross crumpled from taking too many attacks at once. Well, at least she knew that she could handle the Steel-types a bit more easily. Even so, Seria didn't feel any emotion from that anymore. This was a lost cause anyway. "Dang straight. I came to this tournament to prove a point, not to get knocked out in the first round," Seria said, her voice quivering with frustration and a tinge of rage as Astrid sent out her Magnate, which was by now a Magnezone. Very strong Pokemon, that thing was, and Seria all but lost hope at this point. "I don't want to feel worse than I already do having been knocked out, you know? I believe in my Pokemon, but it sucks when you realize you've been outmatched."
Seria saw the Magnezone use its own Hidden Power attack, it was similar to Seyoung's own Hidden Power, so obviously it was the Fire-type version. It slammed into the tarantula who flinched and shuddered in place. "Seyoung. Hidden Power again." Seria called out and the tarantula responded by wiggling and releasing red-hot balls at the Magnezone again.
