Well, this had officially gone past a pleasant match. Seria was clearly taking her inevitable loss hard, and...was she actually angry at her? Or just frustrated at losing? Astrid gave a heavy sigh. "Hey. No one came here to be knocked out in the first round. Not you, not Tanya, not me, not anyone else. We all want to go as far as we can. Most of us want to go all the way. I certainly do. Even if that means beating you first. That's just how a tournament works." Next to her, Magnate began revving up for a second attack, but Astrid held up a hand to keep it from firing anything off. "Look, I'm sorry. I really am. I didn't want to have to knock you out in the first round either. But I also have no intention of losing."
She gave another sigh, then resumed her announcer voice. "That said, I think this has been drawn out enough. Let's finish this! Magnate, Hidden Power!" On command, the Magnezone fired off another barrage of flashing red lights at the Galvantula.

Seria glared at Astrid. Really, Seria was not mad at Astrid; rather, she was mad at herself. She was simply just taking it out on her opponent, unfortunately. That's just how these sorts of things worked, sometimes. Appropriately, the Magnezone responded to the attack with Hidden Power again. Thanks to the metal Pokemon's strong special attacking abilities, it was enough to send Seyoung over the edge and he was flipped into the air and up on his back. He twitched for a few moments but he had eventually fainted after that. Seria returned Seyoung to his Pokeball silently and shrugged. "I have nothing more to say to you. You won fair and square. Good luck in your next battle." Seria slowly walked away from the arena and said nothing more, though the way she left the arena probably spoke volumes about what she was thinking.
She wasn't looking for pity anymore. She just needed some time alone to re-evaluate things. Reflect on herself. She'll do some math later. Do some calculations. What her parents told her rung in her mind again.
Maybe she just should have stuck to the academic field after all.
