It's time to to d-d-d-dddd duel. Against some girl named Amanda that is, he wasn't quite sure if he was going to beat her. Heck, he wasn't expecting to beat anyone when he joined this tournament. Honestly he just joined to get some battle experience for his Pokemon, and hopefully evolve them if things went well. If he was lucky he might get something for participating, and meet some new people. With so few expectations for the tournament he wasn't going to be disappointed, for he was guaranteed to at least get some battles in for his Pokemon. That is if he isn't expelled or something, or if someone forfeits for all his matches, which wouldn't really be a bad thing. Pushing aside his thoughts about what he joined the tournament for and what he might gain he simply waited for his opponent. He wasn't given too much information on her, just that she was a female named Amanda. If he was given her team he could have at least come up with some type of strategy, even if it wouldn't end well. But that might be considered cheating, so he didn't really mind not being given the information, heck, it was probably for the best. Tapping his foot slightly now James simply waited for his opponent to arrive to get things going.

Amanda briskly walked into the tournament ground, adjusting her new gloves. Perhaps wearing concealing garments to this sort of thing was a bit overkill, but she would rather not have her scarred hands fumble at a critical moment. For once, her Hariyama did not accompany her, as Amanda knew that bringing non-battlers into the grounds could be a social faux-pas. Instead, all she carried was a belt with the four Pokemon she could possibly use for this match, although she knew only two of them would be used.
The Kalosian gave a curt nod to her opponent. Likely not much of a skilled trainer, though she wasn't too different.
''Might have we have a good battle.'' she stated: flatly.

Oh, this was great, he got the boring opponent. They probably thought they could win in no time, judging from their flat tone of voice. Seriously, she said they might have a good battle, in a flat tone. Emphasis on the might, she thought he was weak! He was sure that's what she thought, and well, she might have been right. But that was beyond the point! Her lack of enthusiasm took away a lot of the fun in this tournament so far, seriously, why couldn't he get a fun guy? This was going to be boring if she was just going to talk with a flat tone and an attitude that she was going to win like he was nothing. Well, he wasn't intending to go out without a bang. Taking a Pokeball off his belt he clicked it a few times, before an Eevee appeared on the field. In a happy mood Gabby, the Eevee, wagged her tail back and forth, ready to battle. "You can start, or your Pokemon can!" He said, with some enthusiasm in his voice. Even if his opponent wasn't going to be in a cheery mood he was, no point in letting her ruin his time here.

Amanda rolled her eyes impatiently, awaiting some sort of reaction from the other person. How very rude, not even a greeting or a well wish as was custom for battles. Not that it mattered too much to her, the young girl simply flicked her Pokedex open, analyzing the Pokemon she had available. She was there to train and if possible: win. Playing around could wait for the moment. The young boy sent out an Eevee, drawing a faint smile upon the face of the blonde. It was a promising start, everyone seemed to love Eevee and the Pokemon it evolved into, and that gave her an advantage. ''Go, Alfred!'' she cried, delicately opening one of the balls to release her first Pokemon. VS If her opponent was predictable enough to use a normal type, then Amanda would gladly counter with something that no-sold most of what one could do. Alfred would suffice for that. The Ghost type seemed determined to fight as well, his eye narrowed through the cracked mask: glaring at the Eevee. ''If you feel like giving me the first move, so be it! Alfred, use Confuse Ray!''
The red eye glowed brightly, releasing a glaring flash of light to blind and disorient the Normal-Type, throwing it off balance. Duskull used Confuse Ray! Eevee is now Confused! Roll 1d2 for every attack! Effect lasts OyHPrVA21-4 turns!1-4

VS Nope, nope, never give someone the first hit, never again. The girl sent out a Duskull, which was bad enough with its typing. But the worst part was that it used confuse ray, of all things it had to use confuse ray! With a small grumble he watched as Gabby was confused from the flash of light, which was just perfect. She basically ensured her win right there if he was going to be having bad luck today. "Gabby, use bite, and uh, try not to miss!" He said, as the Pokemon ran at the Duskull, wobbling this way an that.
Honestly, he really did hate how things were going so far. This girl was clearly smart enough to not give him a chance to attack after he was so kind to let her go first. If she was a real lady she wouldn't have used tricky tactics like that, but those things couldn't be helped. This was the real world after all, and nothing was going to be fair.

Amanda smiled grimly, chuckling as the boy did a double-take in surprise. Luck had always been a part of her battles, and she had little doubt from using it to her favor. VS Perhaps not right then, as the Eevee seemed to overcome it's confusion for the moment, attacking the Duskull successfully. The Ghost-Type reeled in pain, but remained undaunted, Amanda eyed the slowly decreasing health bar, Alfred could survive a few more attacks. Amanda stared down the other trainer. ''Not a bad move, but you aren't safe yet. Alfred, use Ice Beam!''
The ghost let loose a frigid ray of icy coldness, intent on freezing the enemy. Duskull used Ice Beam! 90 Special Ice Damage! Roll 1 to Freeze! H3TAKnqV1-101-10

VS
Fabulous, Gabby got to experience the taste of a Duskull, it probably tasted like dead people! After Gabby let go of the Duskull it appeared to be in pain, but it didn't seem too, daunted. Hastily running away from the Duskull as to put distance between her enemy and herself she prepared for the next attack. James listened as Amanda told her Duskull to use Ice Beam on Gabby. Honestly, it wouldn't do much, but it could freeze her, and if her Duskull used it enough Gabby would surely faint. As the frigid ray was launched at Gabby she attempted to jump out of the way, which didn't work out too well. She got hit right in the stomach, and released a yelp of pain.
"Come on come on Gabby, you can do this. Use bite again!" He said, before Gabby somewhat returned to her faint senses. Running forward Gabby was intent on biting down upon the Duskull, even if it didn't taste too good. However as she ran she wobbled this and and that, and occasionally went in the wrong direction.

Amanda shook her head, rather disappointed in the state of things. Her Pokemon wasn't doing hardly as well as she would have expected. Perhaps something needed to be swapped out. VS ''Alfred, go back! Charles, you are in!'' Amanda ordered, expertly recalling her Duskull for her Charmander, if Alfred couldn't handle things, then her Fire-Type would have to compensate. The tiny lizard stared down the Eevee, snarling and baring his fangs in a threatening motion. Amanda didn't know what else the Eevee had planned, but hopefully a confusion hit would let her lizard retaliate with a proper attack. Amanda switched Duskull for Charmander!

Surprise, here's a vicious Charmander that'll rip off Gabby's head when it get's the chance. That's what he understood from the creepy Charmander, seriously, it looked like it would rip off Gabby's head when it got the chance. So far the odds were looking alright in his favour, kinda. He wasn't going to take the risk of the Charmander pulling out some super powerful move, so he decided to take out his not so secret weapon! With a few clicks of his Pokeballs he exchanged Gabby the Eevee for Connor the Larvitar. Things were heating up now, and Connor was preparing himself. With his teeny arms he began to stretch, glaring at his enemy for today. He was ready, he was absolutely ready for this little punk. VS Action | Exchanged Gabby the Eevee for Connor the Larvitar!

Amanda gripped her Pokedex in frustration. Larivitar was quite possibly the worst Pokemon that the other trainer could have sent out, the blinking light on her device told her as much. Nontheless, the young girl was not going to be daunted, if she would lose: they it would be done fighting. The Charmander... was less certain. VS Amanda sighed: ''Charles, don't give up, use Fire Fang!'' she commanded. With a hesitant nod, the lizard dashed towards his new opponent, fangs lighting up with flames as they dug into the stony hide. Charmander used Fire Fang! 97.5 Fire Physical Damage! Roll 1 for Miss! VS Oh, so that's how Amanda wants to play things. Just charging right in before little old Connor could even finish his stretches, how rude. Honestly, she wasn't a lady at all. James simply watched as the flaming lizard bit into Connor's hide with its flaming claws. Connor felt as if he was going to cry from the pain, but he held in there, because he was a big boy. "Connor, use Earthquake!" He said, before hastily sitting down. With his eyes glued to the Larvitar James watched as it stumped it little feet again and again, and each time he stomped the ground shook almost in unison. Action | Connor the Larvitar used Earthquake!

The attack landed, instantly knocking out the Charmander before he had even managed to do anything successful. As she watched her Pokemon fly backwards into the wall, the opponent Pokemon standing at the epicenter of a shattered tournament ground. Amanda knew there was no possible way of a victory now. Between two very healthy Pokemon on James team, and a nearly downed Ghost on hers, the battle had been decided. Quietly, she recalled the tiny lizard, softly stroking the ball in a reassuring manner. ''You did well, Charles, good work...'' She smiled sadly, it was a lie, but a hopeful one: it had been her choice to call him out, and there was no need to blame her Pokemon, or dwell on it herself. Her choice, her consequences, that was all there was to it. Yet it struck her as an unfamiliar sensation. Perhaps she needed to think about it later, after all. The young girl raised her head towards her opponent. ''Hardly would seem fitting to subject my Pokemon to anything more, you have battled well, I forfeit!'' With a polite nod and a curtsy, Amanda resigned herself to her loss.
Amanda has chosen to forfeit!

He won? Well, that was surprising. Honestly, he didn't expect to win, only get a few hits off before losing, but this, this was unexpected. He had actually taken out one of the opponent's Pokemon, and practically fainted the other one before she forfeited. That, that was just amazing, that's all he had to say. He had actually managed to win, wow, he was still in shock. However he quickly tried to push that behind him, before walking towards Amanda. "Hey, uh nice game, yeah. I wasn't expecting to win at all." He said, before putting out his hand for a handshake when he was close enough. "No hard feelings?" He asked, hoping Amanda wasn't too crushed with what happened to her Charmander.

With a soft shrug, Amanda nodded towards her opponent, accepting the handshake. ''I suppose you were simply the better trainer, for the next time we meet, I won't go down so easily!''
A wicked grin took her face, as she inspected the boy. He seemed shocked to win, admittedly, she was surprised she lost. For once though, she didn't feel too panicked about the whole situation, it was actually fun!
Picking up her bag, Amanda cheerfully began towards the exit of the arena. ''Good luck with your next match!'' she called out, contemplating the best way to train her team for a better match the next time she battled.
