From Up on Mount Brave [Mission/Fianna+James]

Another day, another place he hadn't been before. He couldn't lie, despite this being a mountain, it was rather surprising how nice the place was. In general, from the places he had been save for that awful swamp, everything seemed really...quaint. But he stopped, telling himself he wasn't here for sightseeing. He looked through his bag to make sure he had all his Pokemon, which he did, though all but his Sylveon were in their balls. Except for the Seviper who seemed to have had attitude problems, and he didn't want to deal with that if worse came to worst.
Richard looked at his watch, wondering if he had been there too early or, maybe, too late. Then again he wasn't sure what the actual time for them to be there was in the first place. During his last mission, he had gotten there later than one other person, though he wasn't the last one. Was he in the wrong spot? This was the main path, so that couldn't be the case, could it? He couldn't help but wonder if he was supposed to go a little farther down the main road. He scratched the back of his neck in nervousness and sighed. His Sylveon rubbed itself on him to get him to relax, and he just crouched down and began to pet it.
"Yeah yeah, worst case scenario I'm the one who messed up, right?" He said, still petting her. He decided to stay put, though if no one had come within in 10 or so minutes he'd go look.

Here he was again, the place where he managed to anger a rock. How was it possible? He didn't know, apparently some rock Pokemon was lonely enough to have friends that were inanimate objects. Either way though, today he wasn't here to make friends with inanimate objects, he was here to complete a mission. The mission he accepted was from quite an odd fellow, the description mentioned rippling muscles, which only made things creepier. Apparently the request was to get a Machop, Machamp? One of the two, or maybe the evolution in between the two, his partners would know, or he'd simply remember. This time he wasn't the last one to the meeting spot, or area, it looked like he was the second. Once he arrived at the meeting spot he noticed who the other person was, it was Richard! He'd done a mission with Richard before, one in the swamps. "Hey Richard, how are you doing?" He said in an enthusiastic tone as he noticed his Sylveon. "I see you've gotten some new companions since the last time we met, or you just didn't use this guy, or girl. Either way, it's nice to see you."

Fianna hadn't really bothered going near the mountainous areas prior to accepting a mission, but, all in all, she had no issues with checking them out. It'd probably be a little fun. Plus, on top of that, there were some slightly furry things that were residents. And there was the fact that something furry was included in the reward- a Mankey. It was like. . . this one huge ball of angry fur. Of course she'd look into the mission, even if she believed people should find a “partner” on their own. Granted, some people had busy schedules. Some lacked the physical ability. So, when taking those factors into consideration, the young woman figured it didn't matter- it was best to try to be positive, after all.
The young lady gripped Bernie's horns. The Bouffalant proceeded, slowly, up around the path. They hadn't gotten up far- it was still the “base”- but it was still best to be careful. There was no telling how bad the footing could be, even on a mountain path. The afro-lo, meanwhile, seemed fine with taking it easy. Fianna was clad in the uniform, but no measures were taken to hide her burn scars- outside of, of course, her face. But that was more a case of functionality, anyway. In front of the girl, half-coiled upon the buffalo, was Elena, her Sylveon. The feeler was content to just sleep for the time being. And that, of course, was fine with Fianna.
”Oh.” The girl made a rather dumb observation as Bernie gradually came to a halt. Two humans, both boys, were there. Seemed like that was the spot. Or a huge coincidence. ”Looking for muscles, I hope? Fianna, nice to meet you. This're's Bernie, and Elena.” The Bouffalant snorted at the introduction. Meanwhile, her Sylveon stirred and looked around after hearing her name. Party: Sylveon, Bouffalant, Mareep, Vulpix, Shinx, Deerling

He couldn't remember his name.
It was a simple name too, which didn't really help him remember anything. All he could remember was that it started with a J; Jim, Jason, Jack... He then proceeded to try to avoid any need to say his name until he could look through his notes. "Nice to see you again," he started, "and no, she isn't new. She was an Eevee the last time he met." He said, with a chuckle. Said Sylveon just sat there lightly shaking its tail. The last participant of the mission soon came, and he said a simple "yes" to her question. "Nice to meet you too." Hes said with a smile. He would've been lying if he said he wasn't sort of weirded out by the girl's scars, but he wasn't going to mention it. That'd be way too rude.
They started to walk up the mountain when suddenly some Pokemon fell in front of them. Liara was quick to jump into action, but he immediately told her no. She as there as a last resort, as he wanted to train his other Pokemon as well. So he grabbed a Pokeball that he had drawn a "M" on, and released the Dratini that was inside. "I'll take that one on," he told them, pointing at the Timburr.
"All right, Mordin, start it off with an Aqua tail!" He told it. The Dratini did what seemed like a yawn and went in for the attack. A stream of water surrounded its tail, and the Dratini slammed it down hard on the Timburr. The Timburr retaliated with a good Hammer Arm to the Dratini's body. "Dragon Rush!" He simply said. The Dratini went in with force to tackle the Timburr who simply took it. She flinched, which Richard took as an opening. "Slam, now!" He said, but the Dratini missed as the Timburr dodged. Richard couldn't understand how the Dratini missed when it was larger than the Timburr, but he ignored it. The Timburr went in again for another Hammer Arm, slowing herself down again. Mordin wasn't really happy about both Hammer Arms, and took it upon himself to Dragon Rush the Timburr for the second time.
It got up from it though, and decided to Bulk up. He had no idea why he decided to do it now rather than before, but took upon himself to take this as an advantage. He told Mordin to Aqua Tail one last time, and it managed to knock the thing out. He logged the thing into his dex before returning the Dratini to its ball. He also decided to look into his notepad during this time.
Dratini used Aqua Tail! | Timburr used Hammer Arm! | Dratini used Dragon Rush! | Timburr Flinched! | Dratini used Slam! Dratini missed! | Timburr used Hammer Arm! | Dratini used Dragon Rush! | Timburr panicked and used Bulk Up! | Dratini used Aqua Tail!

Oh, so Richard was taking the small muscle one, fine, he was going to take the one that reminded him of that kid from class. He liked that kid, he looked like a pretty cool guy, but this wasn't the time to think about why he liked Mr. Muscles. "I'll take the uh, red skin one, yah." He said, not really sure what the Pokemon was called. Heck, if it was that human like with its body and clothing style he didn't want to know more about it, much less what was under those karate robes. Or at least he thought those were karate robes, but that didn't really matter.
Alright alright, he's got this. Uh, quick victory quick victory, don't want to hold up the group. Deciding on what Pokemon would be best for this occasion he released Gabby, the Sylveon, and Connor, the Larvitar. Gabby would end this battle fast, and Connor could help out here and there, get use to battling. "Gabby, Dazzling Gleam! Connor, uh, just use like, Stone edge!" He said, partially unsure of what Connor should use. Thankfully the two Pokemon got to work fairly quick, which was what he was hoping for. Gabby seemed faster at using her attack than Connor, which might have been a good thing.
Releasing a Pink orb at the Throh Gabby had used Dazzling Gleam, and it was successfully in hitting its target. It appeared to inflict a decent amount of damage to the Throh, before it could retaliate that is. Charging now it used Body Slam on Gabby, which slammed her to the ground and inflicted a decent amount of damage. The Throh simply stayed upon her, which was kind of creepy. In an attempt to move the big fat Pokemon Connor sent various rocks rocketing at its body, which ended tearing up its clothing. Enraged by this Throh decided to once again, Body Slam Connor, pinning him to the ground. Honestly, so far this Throh didn't seem too smart when it came to avoiding attacks.
With the Throh still pinning poor Connor to the ground Gabby used this as a chance to inflict pain upon it. Releasing yet another pink orb it collided into the beast, and sent him flying into the base of a tree. This enraged the Throh, and caused him to, flex? It just kept flexing, and its muscles kept growing until they were huge! Sure, it was still barely standing, but it still had the strength to use Superpower apparently. It heaved a rock out from the ground and tossed it at Gabby. With a loud "thud" Gabby was sent into the ground, clearly taking a decent amount of damage. Finishing off the Throh now Connor got some sweet sweet revenge by launching various rocks at it with a Stone edge. This caused it to faint, and also rip up quite a bit of its clothing.
Action Log | Sylveon used Moonblast | Throh used Body Slam on Sylveon | Larvitar used Stone Edge | Throh used Body Slam on Larvitar | Sylveon used Moon Blast on Throh | Throh used Superpower on Sylveon | Larvitar used Stone Edge on Throh

Simple as could be, it seemed. Fianna had managed to meet up with her teammates for the mission, and things were looking good! She hadn't gotten lost or caused a rock slide or something, so that was definitely good. A few Fighting-types appeared. Nothing with fur was among them, though, so that was disappointing. One of the two boys went after the lumber-wielding Pokemon. The other with after what looked like a genuine martial artist. That left her with. . . the pudgy-looking boxer-thing. Well, they were all Fighting-types, so it'd be pretty simple to handle them, she figured. She wanted to save Bernie and Elena for the end phases of the mission, so, instead, she sent out something with a little less firepower- her Vulpix.
”All right, sweetheart, use Extrasensory!” Well, the Vulpix looked a little annoyed- or embarrassed, maybe- at being called something like “sweetheart”, but, other than that, the fire-fox did as she was told, glowing slightly and emitting a pulse of psychic energy that caused a sensory overload on the Makuhita! For a moment, it seemed as though the Pokemon had flinched, but it was a feint! The Makuhita ran in, slamming its body into the Vulpix with. . . actually somewhat lackluster results. Which was odd. Was it resisted? Uh, what did the Fire-type resist outside of the obvious? . . . oh, Steel. It must have been a Steel-type move.
”Go for another Extrasensory, Alicia!” The fox complied, and another burst of sensory-overloading psychic energy blasted towards the Makuhita! Unlike the first time, there was no act. The Makuhita went down for the count. The girl wasn't too worried about the outcome of the fight, but she did sigh with relief. Alicia seemed to be fine enough, and that, in itself, was enough to be relieved over.

Oh yeaaaaah! You went to town on those Fighting-typeeees. Like a regular beat doooown. /randysavage With the first signs of opposition cleared, you head a bit further up the path. Things are looking fairly normal. Maybe you won't find what you're looking f- . . . oh, wait. Something's going on a bit further ahead. Deciding to investigate, you proceed onward, only to see a Machamp giving what seems to be training drills towards others. Noticing you, the four-armed Pokemon plants two hands on his waist, flexes with a third, and sends the index finger of the fourth at you, giving a mixture of a battle cry and an order before heading further up the path! Seems like you've found your mark. You'll just have to fight to get to him.

Fabulous, some other horde to fight, and none of 'em were even worth catching! Seriously, he would have to give this Machamp recommendations on his what he should have to fend people off. Like, seriously, a army of Hawlucha, now that would fend people off! Just imagine, a Hawlucha crying "Luche Libre" before falling down upon upon their foe and pinning them to the ground. Now that, that would be an army worth training. But no no, he had to have some weak and ugly ones that no one would ever want! That was it, he was definitely going to give that Machamp some tips of his army building strategies!
But sadly, now wasn't the time for that. Now was the time to take out his ugly little minions before maybe finding something worthy of him, and his Pokeballs if he was lucky. "I got the Machop!" He said, before releasing two Pokemon. One of them was a Houndour, and the other was a Girafarig. "Alright alright, let's do this! Girafarig, Psychic. Lisa, Flamethrower!" He said, before the Pokemon followed out their orders. With his eyes turning blue Girafarig began to use psychic on the Machop. You think you could mess with her trainer? Nope, 'cause she was promised some tasty food after this. Levitating the Machop with her psychic Girafarig smashed it against the ground a couple of times, and the tree a few times, before she dropped it onto the ground.
Some of that might have been overkill, just some. Well, kinda. The Machop just barely got up, just barely, and it decided to inflict some damage upon its enemies before losing. Running as fast as it could the Machop slammed its fist into the Girafarig, sending her crashing onto the ground with its strength. However moments after it used the Dynamic Punch on Girafarig it was hit with Flamethrower from Lisa, causing it to faint.
Action Log | Girafarig used Psychic | Machop used Dynamic Punch on Girafarig | Houndour used Flamethrower on Machop | Machop fainted.

Three more showed up, and they were led by what seemed to be their target, however the big one stayed behind. "I'll take on the one in the middle!" Richard said, then grabbed another Pokeball from his bag. Just like his Dratini's ball, it had a rather large "J" on the ball to remind him of what it was. Out popped a Vulpix who immediately stretched then looked to her owner.
"Ready girl? Will-o-Wisp that thing!" He told her, pointing at the Sawk. It let out a little blue flame from its mouth that set the Pokemon ablaze. It retaliated with a good ol' Brick Break to the top of the Vulpix's head, though due to the burn it didn't hit as hard as it should. The burn also hurt the Pokemon after, however. "Burn it even more with a Flamethrower!" He commanded the Vulpix, who let out a surge of flame from its mouth at the direction of the Sawk. It took the damage head on, and came in to Counter. The strike hit, and it got hurt by the burn once again.
"Confuse it!" And with that, the Vulpix let out a flash of light that made the Sawk go nuts. While trying to Counter again, it tripped, and landed terribly, resulting in it hurting itself. The burn took affect yet again, and it was clearly almost down for the count. "Flamethrower!" He said, and when the Vulpix engulfed the Sawk with fire it fell to the ground; fainted. He bent down to pet his Vulpix, giving it praise for doing so well. He kind of felt bad for the Timburr as well as the Sawk, but he knew he wouldn't really do anything with them in the first place, especially when he was supposedly getting the Mankey as a reward. He returned the Vulpix to its ball and put it away, waiting to see how that big Pokemon was going to react.

”Sorry about that. Take a rest, all right? And you, too, Alicia.” She apologized to the opponent, then returned her Vulpix. It looked like what little respite they had from the first engagement was up and done, however. A little further, and they had seen the Machamp they were looking for. But he turned tail and ran. Okay, at least they knew it was around? The boys, again, took their picks, and the young lady was given the task to clean up the leftovers. That was fine enough, she supposed. Her opponent was. . . some. . . thing. It looked like an uncute monkey with an onion-head. Well, whatever it was, it was probably a Fighting-type, and, because of that, it was probably physically powerful. For that reason, she sent out her Mareep, Gordon.
”All right, Gordon, use Cotton Guard!” At Fianna's orders, the Mareep began to fluff-out, his fluff-coat becoming fluffier and tougher to penetrate. In response, the strange Pokemon leaped forward, trying to kick! The blow connected, but the damage was greatly reduced. ”Try to deal with it for now, darlin'. Another Cotton Guard! He can't do squat now!” A second fluff-up occurred, maximizing the Mareep's defensive capabilities. The opponent was probably a brawn-over-brains sort, or it lacked anything else to use. Whatever the case, it jumped and kicked again. The damage was negligible at that point.
”All right, good! Gordon, let's ride the lightning to victory! Discharge!” The fluff mass emitted a few sparks before the entire sheep sparked. Sending out a burst of electricity, the Mareep fried the Meditite! It wasn't enough to go down, though. In response, the opponent healed itself! How bothersome, Fianna figured. ”Let's go. Keep using Discharge! We'll deal more than he can heal sooner or later!” It was a rather. . . basic strategy. But the girl wasn't a strategist. She just wanted a bunch of fluff. A second Discharge fried the Meditite, but it seemed like the target was paralyzed afterward! Unable to heal itself, the enemy twitched. A third Discharge finished the deal, frying the Meditite into Medibites.
”There ya go. Well done!” The Mareep made some muffled sound of excitement with the praise, the fluff wall apparently blocking his face.

With minimal effort, you defeat the Machamp's trainees. Pursuing your mark, you head further up the path, only to find the Machamp waiting! The Pokemon makes a few sounds, as though speaking with you- perhaps, if he were a villain, he'd be congratulating you on your success in making it that far, but promising that your end was nigh, before leaving it to his henchmen. Punctuating his sounds with a thumb swishing across his neck, it was very probable that his sounds could have translated to something along those lines. With a bellow, he clapped with both pairs of arms, and numerous Pokemon, each more powerful than those encountered before, appeared. With what seemed like a laugh, the Machamp casually strolled further up the path.

Well, this was an army! Finally this Machamp had picked some real henchmen, although he was a little taken back. They seemed a lot stronger than the others, but he would be able to handle it, right? Wasn't like he was going to have another bunch of these guys, and oh god, if he did he was probably done for. Well, now was his chance to kick some rippling muscle butt, which was a scary thought. With a few clicks of his Pokeballs he released several Pokemon as two rippling muscle users came forth. They were just going to help him train his body if they got past his Pokemon, right, right? Cause they were just personal trainers that wanted to possibly kill him.
Fantastic, he was against Lucario and a Machoke! Just great, well, he got a Sylveon, Houndour, and Girafarig, so he had this thing in the bag, hopefully. Well, it wasn't time to dawdle, it was time to fight! "Lisa, Roar the Lucario. Girafarig, Psychic the Machoke. Gabby, Moonblast the Lucario!" He said, heaving a sigh. Hopefully his plan would end well, and not fail miserably. Thankfully the Pokemon followed out their trainer's orders rather quickly, which was a miracle. Lisa released a shaft of flames at the Lucario, while Girafarig threw the Machoke this way and that with Psychic. Both did a fairly reasonable amount of damage due to the typing of the attacks, which was quite useful.
This, however, didn't knock the two Pokemon out. Sure, maybe another one or two more, but one, well, they were muscle heads, they got this. The Machoke blasted Girafarig in the side, dealing a hefty amount of damage which caused her to faint. Meanwhile the Lucario retaliated with a Extreme Speed on Lisa, which dealt a hefty amount of damage, more than half. Another hit from that and Lisa would be out, but thankfully Gabby final released a Moonblast at the muscle head. It dealt a surprising blow, considering how it was a pink orb, and pink usually meant something was weak. But in this case it appeared to be quite strong, strong enough to take out the Lucario in fact.
Great, the Machoke could move on from its opponent. Flexing it looked at the other two Pokemon which had just taken out its companion. Which would be a worthy opponent, which indeed. Well, the little dog seemed like a good start. Dashing towards the Lisa the Machoke outstretched its fist, and before Lisa knew it that fist was in her side and sent her flying. With a thud she hit the ground, and fainted. "Just perfect, well Gabby finish this off with a Moonblast!" He said, before Gabby charged and released yet another Pink orb. It hit the Machoke square in the chest before sending it to the ground with a loud thud before it fainted. Well, that was those two down, now he could capture one of the two. Deciding Lucario would be a mighty trainer for when he exercised he tossed an Academy ball at it, before returning his Pokemon.
Action Log | Houndour used Flamethrower on Lucario | Girafarig used Psychic on Machoke | Machoke used Dynamic Punch on Girafarig | Girafarig fainted | Lucario used Extreme Speed on Houndour | Sylveon used Moonblast on Lucario | Lucario fainted | Machoke used Dynamic Punch on Houndour | Houndour Fainted | Sylveon used Moonblast on Machoke | Machoke Fainted

With those Pokemon down, there was only one left to deal with, right? Or so Richard thought. However the hulking Pokemon called upon even more friends, more, stronger friends, that they would have to deal with. The Pokemon they were after, however, ran further up the path. Fantastic. Before he could choose what he wanted to fight, James went in and attacked 2, so he picked another two to attack.
"Liara, you're up! You too, Miranda, Jack!" He said, releasing the latter two from their balls. The Sylveon stepped up and the Clauncher and Vulpix stood next to it. He thought of what to do; he didn't want to get screwed like last time where one of his Pokemon got knocked out almost immediately. So he, again, decided to focus on attacking one, while basically ignoring the other one. After checking them both on the Pokedex he decided that the Toxicroak was more of a threat, as Liara had a weakness to it, so he figured that it should go down first.
"Liara, Psyshock! Miranda, Crab Hammer! Jack, Flame Thrower!" He commanded, and they went in. Right before the Sylveon could attack, the Toxicroak sucker punched it. It didn't stop the Sylveon from Psyhocking it, however, which ended up dealing a ton of damage. The Clauncher then followed up with a hard hitting Crab Hammer, as well as the Vulpix with Flamethrower. To Richard's surprise, though barely, the Toxicroak was still standing. The Scrafty joined in the fight too and Crunched on the Clauncher.
"L-Liara, Moonblast the Scrafty! Miri, Crab Hammer the Toxicroak again! Jack, Flamethrower the Scrafty!" He was riding on the Crab Hammer fainting the Toxicroak, which it did. The Moonblast hit the Scrafty hard, and the Flamethrower managed to burn the thing. However, the Scrafty jumped in the air and went to kick the Vulpix, who fainted when it connected. He inwardly cursed; what he tried to avoid still happened, and it was his fault for forgetting that the Vulpix had taken a bit of a beating in the fight before. The Sylveon didn't even bother waiting for a command before Moonblasting the Scrafty one last time, knocking it out. He took the time to apologize to his Vulpix, then returning it to its ball. He looked at the Scrafty, wondering if he should capture it. It seemed like it'd be a great addition to his team, even as a back up, even if he was going to get another fighting type on top of it. After a bit of deliberation, he decided to catch it, then went to go after the target.
Toxicroack attacked first with Sucker Punch! | Sylveon used Psyshock on Toxicroak! It's Super Effective! | Clauncher used Crab Hammer on Toxicroak! | Vulpix used Flame Thrower on Toxicroak! | Scrafty used Crunch on Clauncher! | Clauncher used Crab Hammer on Toxicroak! ”Sorry about that.” She apologized to the Meditite before returning Gordon and smiling. They continued on, and there was another wave of fighters. It looked. . . kind of bad. Then, though, she remembered that she was with others. Granted, that was partially because they decided who they would fight, but that was fine. She was left with a big, fluffy guy and. . . some plant. Right. Well then, she'd likely be taking that panda home. The plant. . . not so much. Preparing two balls, she sent out her shiny golden Shinx and her Deerling.
”Lyn, use Fire Fang on the plant! Bambi, Jump Kick on the panda!” The little lynx shot forward and utilized fiery teeth on the Breloom, dealing some nasty damage but nothing more. Meanwhile, the deer hopped and landed a four-hoof kick on the Pangoro. Not a bad start. The panda seemed to be taunting them for some reason. It confused Fianna that it wasn't attacking, but whatever. The Breloom, though, violently fired off a seed. ”Bambi, take the hit!” It might have sounded bad, or even out of character for Fianna, but there was a reason. The Deerling intercepted the seed and, on contact, it seemed like the deer developed rabies. With a shrill cry, she stomped the ground. Then, calming down, she seemed to radiate strength.
”All right you two, team and repeat!” The Shinx hopped up on top of the grass-enhanced Deerling. Bambi charged at the Pangoro with renewed power, jumping at it and slamming all four hooves into his face. As she did, Lyn jumped from the Deerling and dropped onto the Breloom with a violent flaming chomp. The Pangoro went down. The Breloom, however, remained standing. He wasn't unharmed, though- he was burned. The plant concentrated energy into its palm before thrusting it at the Shinx. Lyn flew back, but, due to the burns of the attacker, it wasn't enough to do her in.
”One more go! Bambi, Jump Kick! Lyn, Fire Fang!” The Deerling shot in and stomped the Breloom to the ground. While it was pinned, the Shinx lunged in and rent it aflunder (aflame and asunder for those unaware of brilliant new language discoveries). It was down for the count. With a slight sigh, the girl tossed a ball to capture the Pangoro. It wasn't as stressful as before, but that was really luck.
