Sure a field full of highly dangerous lightning rods wasn't the best place to hangout, but Cal really didn't mind. If it was somewhere he could get some quiet it was good for him. He had found a nice place to sit among the high grass and made himself comfortable. He was sketching random things and writing down lyrics when they popped into his head. For once he actually wasn't listening to music, but for right now he enjoyed just the silence and the occasional gust of wind.
He actually needed an electric-type Pokemon, so if one happened to appear that would be great as well. But if not he wouldn't mind to just waste the day sitting here. It didn't seem like this was the coolest place to hang out so he'd most likely have it to himself. Of course unless someone else came out venturing for Pokemon. Shrugging he continued drawing as he hummed a random tune loudly to himself.

He was busy contemplating how his drawing and lyrics actually compared to eachother when he heard a rustling in the grass just ahead of him. He was still too deep in thought to even care and continued to tap his pencil on the drawing pad laying on his lap. This time the rustling got even louder and with a sigh Cal got up to investigate. As soon as he approached the grass whatever was in it hopped out and landed gracefully at his feet. It was an Electrike, something Cal had really been wanting. Especially since it's evolved form was...blue. His obsession for the color blue would never be understood. The Electrike looked like it wanted a battle so Cal shrugged and gave it what it wanted.
Taking a Pokeball out of his pocket he released Ivy onto the field. Just as she landed on the ground he barked an order, wanting to catch this Pokemon as soon as possible. "Use Solar Beam!" Ivy glared at him for disturbing her but did as she was told, starting to gather as much light into herself as she could. While she was preparing the Electrike decided to attack, biting down hard on the little bug. She winced but kept her stance, trying not to lose concentration. When she was ready she released a bright beam of sunlight and with perfect accuracy it crashed into the electric-type.
With a whine it backed a few feet while wincing in pain. Yet the foe still had fight in him and ran forward in a quick attack. It hit Ivy and this time she rolled a bit, unable to hold her place. She got up quickly, hurt but still having plenty of energy to hang on. "Let's finish this, he's weak so use Poison Tail!" She complied, a bit tired but was able to slash at him with her poison-covered tail. The initial attack didn't down him, but once he was poisoned he faltered a bit before fainting from the poison damage.
"That was a good battle, you'll come in handy." Cal said lightly with a grin as he tossed a Pokeball at the downed Electrike and waited for the confirmation of it being caught.

Venipede used Solar Beam (Charging)

Electrike used Quick Attack
Venipede used Poison Tail
Electrike was poisoned!
Electrike fainted.
