Round 2/Benji

Well, he made it past round one, and now he was onto round two.  He had to admit, he wasn't expect to get past the first round.  From the looks of things though he had some pretty good luck with the confusion on Eevee, which might have won him the match.  But either way, now he was waiting for his next opponent.  All he information he could get on them was that their name was Benji apparently, what they used, his didn't know.  But hey, if things went his way maybe they had a Charmander and a duskull, or some other weak ghost type.  As long as they were easy to kill it would be all good, all he had to do now was wait, and wait for them to release their first Pokemon.  He wasn't intending to let them get a head start, so when he saw Benji's Pokemon and released his Pokemon he would go pow!  Rapid fire move before it even hit him!

Benji had been quite surprised that he had one the first round. Though the Pokemon that were chosen that day had been on his side for the most part, as well as some luck. He wasn't sure how today would go, but either way he was happy to have gotten to this point so that was all that really mattered to him. When he entered the arena his opponent, James, was already waiting for him. As he approached he waved with a slight grin. "This should be interesting, let's see who gets into the finals. Good luck." He knew that James was most likely waiting to see which Pokemon he would release first, and though that would be a slight disadvantage there wasn't much he could do. He thought for a moment then sent out the one he was most confident in. "I'll start out with Willow, my Zorua." Willow stood ready, staring at the opposing student as she waited to see what Pokemon she would be up against. However this fight ended, it should be interesting at least.

Action: Benji sent out Zorua.

Oh, so Benji had a dog like thing.  That was cool, although it didn't look too, strong, which was all good!  Well, no time to be thinking too much about his opponent, why?  Because it was show time!  Hastily grabbing a Pokeball from his belt James clicked it a few times, before a Larvitar popped out.  "Alright alright, Connor, no time for stretching.  Just use earthquake!"  He said, before hastily getting down upon his behind.  He wasn't intending to fall over when the little Larvitar began to make the ground shake.  Following his trainer's orders the Larvitar stretched his stretches, sadly, and began to stomp his feat.  With each stomp the ground shook as an earthquake was produced from the little Larvitar.

Benji still at a grin of confidence on his face, that was until his opponent sent out a Larvitar. Other than Willow all his other Pokemon were weak to ground. This was not good. The only chance he had was to take out this Pokemon, which probably wouldn't happen. But Benji wasn't the type to give up or forfeit so he'd just tough it out and let whatever happened happen. The ground started to shake violently and Benji struggled to keep his balance, James on the other hand seemed to fall and Benji tried his hardest not to laugh out loud.

Willow having no where to go was hit hard by the attack, her legs wobbling slightly as she struggled to get back up. Another hit like that and she would be down, then the battle would pretty much be over. It was futile but he couldn't stop now. "Willow, use Shadow Ball, try to hang in there okay?" She nodded, still a bit shaken from the Earthquake...no pun intended. It took a moment but she produced a large ball of crackling dark energy and launched it as hard as she could at her oppenent. At least she'd get one good hit in before it was over.

Action: Zorua used Shadow Ball.

1-2 Larvitar's Special Defense is lowered. 3-10 it is not.

So he was trying to get a special defence drop or something from the looks of things.  Well, Connor looked fine and dandy!  That is excluding the damage he took just now from the Shadow ball, which was around one third of his health.  Well, no matter, he would just keep on going, with a master plan!  That is unless that Benji kid thought that him sitting down on his behind wasn't part of his plan.  Because from the looks of things he was trying to hold in his laughter.  Well excuse him, he was just sitting down before the big trembles from the Earthquake hit!  But of course he was probably unaware of that fact, which didn't matter.  "Alright, Connor use Earthquake again!"  He said, before the Larvitar began to stomp its feat once more.  Each time Connor's foot stomped against the ground rumbles could be felt, and quite large ones.

The Shadow Ball hit, yet it didn't lower the Larvitar's special defense which was a bit disappointing. Not that, that would have done much good anyway but it was worth trying. Yet again another Earthquake was ordered and Benji was ready this time, kneeling down with both palms on the ground to balance himself. He didn't even want to look up because he knew what was going to happen. After the rumbling of the ground finally stopped he slowly glanced up and his eyes were met with a black heap of fur, curled up on the battle field. He sighed, grimacing at seeing his Zorua fainted. "You tried," he said softly, quickly returning her. Well he had made it this far at least, it was pretty much over at this point.

As he stood up, brushing dirt off his pants his mind suddenly lit up with an idea. Maybe it wasn't over, why hadn't he thought of this before. This meant he still had a slight chance! Fumbling out of a new found excitement he quickly grabbed a ball off his belt and released the Pokemon that could possibly win this, if he was lucky. Jade his Tyrunt landed on the ground, a bit startled at being released out in this large arena. She glanced back at him a bit scared but he reassured her. "It's okay Jade, it is time to battle okay?" She nodded tentatively. "Let's hit them with their own medicine, use Earthquake!" Almost mirroring what the Larvitar had did, she started stomping hard on the ground. It started with a low rumble and then the ground started to shake like crazy.

Action: Zorua fainted! Tyrunt came out. Tyrunt used Earthquake!

Fine, use earthquake on Connor, it wasn't like he was going to faint.  Or you know, just faint him, that works too.  You know, wasn't like Connor was going to sweep his team or anything.  With a slight grumble James returned Connor with a few clicks of his Pokeball.  Things weren't over still, no sir.  He had a master plan up his sleeve he had planned since he signed up for the tournament!  Switching Connor's ball with another Pokeball from his belt James was ready to win this match.  With a few clicks of the Pokeball Lucifer the Phantump appeared, although he was clearly tired.  "Alright Lucifer, wakey wakey eggs and bacy.  It's time to use Destiny Bond!"  He said, before the Phantump yawned.  Extending its ghostly hands it began to produce a  ball of smoke, before whipping it at the Tyrunt.  The smoke appeared as if it was trapped in a cylinder of some sorts while it flew through the air, since it didn't spread out.  However on contact it busted, and fit would feel like a gust of wind.  Acting as if it was controlled the smoke quickly spread to the Tyrunt's nostrils and nose, before seeping into them.

Action | Larvitar fainted!  Phantump used Destiny Bond!

Benji clenched his fist, resisting doing a fist pump out of happiness. He had downed one Pokemon and that was enough to make him happy even if he lost. Benji watched calmly when James release a Phantump...interesting. Though when he ordered a Destiny Bond...let's just say Benji's smile faded. He had at least thought the fight would go on awhile but now it was pretty much over. When Phantump fainted so would Jade and it would be over. Sighing he decided to just get this battle over with, after all he was getting a tad hungry. Jade was still sneezing slightly after the odd smoke had absorbed into her, she seemed more scared than usual. "It will all be okay," he said even though he knew it wouldn't. "Use Dragon Claw!" Jade was still hesitant but did as she was told, racing forward as fast as her short legs would take her and slashing her sharp claws into her foe.

Action: Tyrunt used Dragon Claw!

James cringed as he watched Lucifer release a cry of pain.  It appeared as if his ghostly body rippled in and out  for a few moments as he sunk to the ground slightly.  It was fairly clear that the attack dealt a toll on him, and that he wouldn't last another hit.  But on the bright side even if Lucifer did faint the Tyrunt was going to faint right before him, just like the Girafarig. James recalled how the Girafarig was strangled by the smoke inside its body before it collapsed onto the ground, with the smoke filling out.  That was what was going to happen to the Tyrunt, and he knew it.  "Alright Lucifer, Will-o-Wisp!"  He said, before the small phantom created several flaming orbs.  Gliding through the air the orbs made their way to the Tyrunt before circling around it.

Action | Phantump used Will-o-wisp!

The attack hit the poor Ghost-type pretty hard, and he knew the small creature couldn't take much more. Not that it mattered, Jade would fall when he did. Expecting James to order another Destiny Bond he waited, but to his surprise he used...Will-O-Wisp? Didn't he know that destiny bond only worked if the Pokemon used it right before fainting? Using another move in between negated the effects...he made a grave error.

Jade was burned, taking a bit of damage, but with the mistake James made it wouldn't matter. Benji had just won this fight, and he was still shocked realizing this. Part of him felt bad but he shrugged it off. "James...you do realize what you just did?" He said it quietly with a small grin tugging at the corner of his mouth. "Your Destiny Bond is void now." He glanced at Jade with a light in his eyes. "Finish it off with a Crunch!" Jade seemed more confident now, running forward and biting down on Phantump as hard as her jaws would allow. 

Action: Tyrunt used Crunch! BP of 80 + Ability Strong Jaw which adds 50% more damage, and Phantump's weakness which doubles it. Total damage of 240. 100% Accuracy.

Well, he was an idiot.  He just yelled at himself in his head, stupid stupid stupid.  Well, that's what he deserved for not looking into the attack more.  Honestly, he could really be stupid sometimes.  With teh crunch Phantump went down, and he had lost the match.  Well, he had at least gotten some battle experience for his Pokemon, which was what he joined for.  Now, if he was correct a little bit of personal training with Connor and he could finally evolve.  Honestly, he won in his head since he got all he'd come for and more.  Apparently he'd heard you could get something for participating in the tournament, so maybe getting this far would give him even more than he wanted.  Either way, he returned Lucifer and walked towards Benji.  Once close enough he outstretched his hand.  "Nice match, and uh yah, I probably should have looked into Destiny Bond a bit more.  Well, that's my fault.  Anyway, win for me in the next match, alright?  Don't want to lose to you for nothing."  He said, with a small grin on his face.

The Phantump went down as he had expected, but Benji just stood there motionless afterwards. Had he actually...won? From the beginning of the battle he had pretty much given up hope, but with a turn of events he had came out the victor. Hell, he hadn't even thought he would get through the first round and now he was heading off to the finals. Still wide-eyed and speechless he didn't noticed James had approached him until the Nature Dormer spoke. Finally shaking his shocked expression he nodded, smiling friendly as he shook James' hand with respect.

"Hey at least you've learned your lesson and will know the next time you use it right?" He grinned and continued. "That was an awesome battle, I'm still surprised I won. I'm going to try my best in the finals, since you did technically help me get there. Perhaps we can have a rematch one day, or maybe we'll meet in the next tournament." He scratched his head and bowed slightly in farewell. After returning his tired Tyrunt he took a deep breath and looked around the arena for a moment. The next time he stepped in here it would be for the finals. He had better go prepare and make sure he's ready for the battle. With another nod towards James he turned and left with a victorious smile on his face.
