She enjoys showing to others that even with her own disability, she can easily provide for the team and do complicated tasks with only her feet. Of course, this is only when she is presented with work or anything related to it. Outside of it she is always relaxed and carefree.
Her manner of speech always stays in the same tune, even while at work, or even when in her relaxed state, this manner of speech being very calm, even sometimes comparable to deadpan. She knows this very well, and usually just keeps it due to finding it to fit herself well enough that she does not need any other tune to express herself.
Nia is also rather artistic, usually spending her free time painting with her legs, or even trying to do other art forms like small sculptures with them. While doing art she is intently focused on her work, not dropping it for anything expect for near death situations.
Some might think that her disability and her general tone of voice and first impressions would drive people away from her, and it does. But she does not let it get to her, still seeking out friends whenever she thinks a person near her could be one. History: Nia grew up in Pallet town with her parents, her two uncles and her two brothers. She was born as the last of the litter, but due to her birth defect she was often treated with silk gloves in the family, leading onto her growing dislike for people who think she was helpless. She spent much of her school life being home tutored by someone who had just graduated from art school, leading to the tutor teaching her ways to paint with her feet.
She was utterly crushed during her 10th birthday when her tutor sadly had to move away over to the Hoenn region, sending her best friend over so far away. This led to her becoming bitter for the better part of her 10th and 11th years, before slowly recovering and opening back up to her family. During this time of bitterness, she had taken to the family's pet pokemon as her only true company, including a growlithe and a Mr Mime.
After her 15th birthday, her parents finally considered her to be ready to step out into public school life, partly due to them not being able to afford any good enough tutor. Nia enjoyed this one year of freedom, even making a few small time friends in the art club. Sadly, this life was crushed when on her 16th birthday her parents announced that she would be sent to the Gray Garden Academy to learn about pokemon and battling with them, mostly because her older brothers had grown to be successful trainers and sending most of their money over to her parents so that they could afford a higher education for her.
