A forest was good every now and then, but, sometimes, a girl just wanted to bask in the sun. Having come from a place of winter's chill, Adolfina could appreciate the gentle warmth of the sun every now and then. The blonde brushed her hair back after a slightly powerful breeze messed her hair up. It wasn't unpleasant, though. If anything, it was fairly pleasant. Honestly, she was tempted to just toss herself into the sunflowers and lay there. No doubt, she'd fall asleep quickly enough if she allowed herself to act so shamelessly. No, she was there to stroll and to search. The stroll she had. The search was still unproductive. She wanted something else to add to her team. The areas nearest to home often hid the greatest of riches. That was why her searching was so. . . “localized” so far.

Not that that was a bad thing.

The blonde continued through the expansive field of gold. The wind blew on occasion, causing the surface of the “ocean” to shudder and sway. It was pretty. The girl stopped and stood still for a short time to observe. While she was no stranger to getting out and going to other places, seldom did she have the chance to just. . . stop and look at nature. At least, she rarely had the chance to just sit there and look when it wasn't coated in a blanket of white snow. She was more than just acquainted with snow. She rarely met with flowers, though. A shame, really, but she understood that some people just had to be busier than others.

Typically, that was one of the defining factors of being rich, or in a similar state of prosperity dealing with business.

After moving along, the girl passed by what was actually a Pokemon. Not that she noticed it, blending in with the flowers.

Adolfina blinked when she came across a beaver-like Pokemon. It was. . . eating sunflowers. Or severing them. Or something. Whatever it was doing, it was doing it with all its might. It was endearing in a way. She could have disrupted it, but it didn't quite feel right to. So, rather than bothering herself with bothering the Pokemon, the girl gave the thing a wide berth and headed further through the golden sea of flowers. She was certain that she would find something else of note soon enough, anyway, so there was no need to worry over every little fish in the sea. She had her desires, yes, but she was no monster. Even if she could be utterly spoiled, demanding, and generally unpleasant, if she so desired to be.

The ground trembled. The blonde twisted around and saw a Kangaskhan running towards her. That was one species she knew off-hand. Big, strong, and protective of their young, they were not a Pokemon to bother. Despite that, it seemed that the girl had somehow done something to annoy the titan. It seemed rather focused on her as it approached, after all. Common sense said it was probably time to run. However, common sense didn't necessarily apply to Pokemon. Besides, the chances of her getting away in one piece, should she have opted to flee, were low. Finally, her ego did not allow her to turn her back to a challenge like that. She ran a quick consideration over who seemed like the best bet to tackle a physical titan. Then, reaching to her waist pouch, she retrieved a ball before lobbing it forward. From it, a giant, fluffy ball of cotton appeared. Diablo the Cottonee was ready to battle.

Battle Start!

”Diablo, use Cotton Guard!” The girl shouted, and the Pokemon began to fluff out further. The first attack from the enemy was fueled with rage. Despite the terrifying display of power, though, it seemed to be entirely ineffective against the cotton ball. It must have been a Dragon-type move. Perfect, the girl figured. It gave them time to finish erecting the wall. ”Again, Cotton Guard!” The ball fluffed further, maximizing her defensive capabilities. The Kangaskahn attacked, uselessly, again. It seemed to be locked into that fit of rage. Or it did up until it stumbled back, seemingly confused.

”Now, use Charm, Diablo!” With their defensive capabilities maxed out, it was time to further lessen the danger of an attack from their opponent. The Kangaskahn tried to bite the ball of fluff! But the attack was pitifully ineffective. Between the defensive fortifications on the fluffball and the offensive dampener on the brute, the attack was just sad. However, on top of that, it seemed that Diablo resisted the attack. In other words, nothing of import occurred. Adolfina was pleased, and greatly amused on top of that, as she witnessed the spectacle.

”You're doing well. Leech Seed!” With the girl's order, the cottonball spit a number of seeds on the Kangaskahn, which began to sprout and twist around its body. It was unnecessary in the long run, sure, but it still served a purpose. The opposing Pokemon tried to attack, but it hurt itself in its confusion! Of course, the blow was dampened due to the effects of Charm, but, still. It hurt itself, and that was what mattered in this case. After that, the seeds drained energy from the enemy, spewing it towards the Cottonee. All was well so far.

”No need to take it slowly anymore! Giga Drain it until it faints, Diablo!” The girl's voice steadily rose as she forcefully gestured at the Kangaskahn. It would know its folly in charging at her with ill intent. It would learn to serve her. Diablo used Giga Drain, further sucking energy away from the enemy. The Kangaskahn managed to attack, and it seemed powerful, but with the buffs, debuffs, and innate resistance to what seemed like a Fighting-type move, the attack's damage was negligible. On top of that, Leech Seed replenished what little it did accomplish.

And so the battle devolved into the opponent's weak resistance continuing until it was completely drained of energy. By the end of it all, Diablo was still in tip-top shape, raring to go and ready for more. The opponent, though, slumped over onto its side before finally passing out, seemingly unable to deal with the continuous drain of energy. The girl stepped forward, grinning impishly, before producing another ball and tossing it at the fainted Pokemon.

The ball clicked, signifying the end of the battle and a second victory. She had not lost to the wild yet, and the wild presented new and unique flavors to her team. She was pleased and proud- both of herself and her partners. They did well. With a smile, the girl turned around and crouched to stroke the top of the sentient cottonball. She was still looking down on it, so it didn't bother her too much if she crouched. The ball of fluff seemed especially happy to be receiving the attention. How it managed to feel any form of contact with that enhanced fluff was anyone's guess, but it seemed to feel it.

”Good job. You did well. Really well. Let's go home.” The blonde stood, recalled the Pokemon to her ball, and then turned around. It was time to return to the dorm.

Perhaps she'd see that beaver at work, still, on the way back?
