After one particularly easy battle against a lightning rat, Adolfina figured it was perfectly fine to linger around at the Blissfury Plains. Lightning aside, it wasn't a terrible place, and, outside of that strange little horse acting like a cat with one of the lightning rods, there wasn't anything particularly outlandish or bothersome from the Pokemon population. There was, however, a striking lack of what really seemed like “powerful” Pokemon. Sure, she needed to research some of these guys more, but still. Something particularly powerful would have been nice. Very nice. Of course, beggars could not be choosers. Not that she was a beggar, mind, but the saying was as it was, and there was naught to be done about that.

The blonde encountered what seemed to be a god-forsaken creature with absolutely zero redeeming factors. There really was no other way to explain what she had found. It was ugly, it looked stupid, and it was stuck under a small rock despite being larger than the rock. In other words, it was weak. She had zero interest in such a poor, weak creature. With the same level of interest a person would have watching a squirming dog in a movie (mind you, this is from her perspective, which means zero), she turned away and walked off. No hesitation, nor moral inhibitions, got in her way. She was done with that scene. Time to find something that actually did deserve attention.

Adolfina stopped once a little fox-like Pokemon appeared. It was endearing in its own, special way. Either way, the blonde decided it would be worth the trouble of catching. Sending out her Cottonee, the girl puffed her chest out with pride. Why? Because victory was a given. She would not lose to some untrained beast out in the wild. She would triumph, break it, and make it obedient to her. The ball of cotton seemed to have understood exactly what was about to happen. Rolling about on her sides, the ball awaited orders. She had already accepted the human completely, despite the numerous personality flaws she had.

Battle Start!

”Cotton Guard, Diablo!” The blonde ordered. She wasn't sure what the opponent could do, but there was a decent enough chance it would use physical attacks. For that reason, enhancing the physical defense quickly was a good call. The opponent just stared with rather adorable eyes. If it had an effect, the girl wasn't aware of it. With a second call for a Cotton Guard, the blonde directed the ball of fluff to maximize its defense. Still, the fox stared. Adolfina didn't realize it, but the staring reduced Diablo's physical attack power. Not that that mattered, given that the Cottonee was a “special” attacker.

”Use Leech Seed!” And so the fluff being fired an allotment of life-draining seeds at the fox. The fox wriggled about, yelping and glaring a little as I squirmed in the vine-y seeds. There was no pain yet, so it probably didn't consider the act hostile. That all drained when the seeds leeched energy and fed it to Diablo. At that point, the fox growled. It seemed like it would finally turn properly aggressive. Too late for that, though. With Diablo at maximum fluff and the seeds planted, it would have to possess the Cottonee's weaknesses.

”Giga Drain until it's down!” And those were the words that sealed the deal. The Cottonee would drain the fox, the fox would counterattack with some physically-aligned move, and then whatever damage it did manage to deal was erased either by the seeds' leeching or the next Giga Drain. The cycle continued for a short time before the fox, exhausted, dropped to the ground and twitched. Eventually, it passed out from the lack of energy. To be expected, though. A physical attacker was doomed against Diablo, especially if they lacked anything she was weak to. With a small and a wistful sigh, the girl drew out the last of her empty Pokeballs, throwing it at the fox.

And, with that click, the girl had captured the fox. That was her last empty ball. It seemed like it was time to go and finally buy some more. She only needed one more for the near future, though, so it wasn't like she had to dump some unreasonable amount into some the things for the time being. And, who knew? Perhaps her fishing trip would be fruitless? It would be an unpleasant set of affairs, but, if that was the case, there was little she could do about it. It would just be an unfortunate event- nothing more and nothing less. On the other hand, it also meant she could save the ball she'd buy for a later outing. So, even if she purchased only one ball, it could have potentially lasted her a while. So many thoughts, so little time.

”Good job.” The girl pet the Cottonee, much like previous victories, before turning her to her ball. Really and truly, Diablo had done well in every battle. The fluffball was quickly winning a spot in the blonde's heart.
