The Strong Hunt [Team 1]

Bryce took in a deep breath of the fresh air outside of the Thorn Citadel. “Ah, what a lovely day for a hunt wouldn’t you say so?” he asked the students. The headmaster tipped his bowler cap, stifling a giggle. “Ah yes.” He composed himself. “I suppose I should explain my reasoning for accompanying you all and your young warden.” He stood tall brushing off his beige suit before cupping his hands behind his back. “Ahem.” He called for attention. “As the current top students of our fair academy, I have decided to see for myself the skill that you as trainers have developed in today’s hunt.” He addressed. “As such, I expect to see a marvelous display of skill from you all, and I have no doubt you will all do your best in today’s activity.” He smiled, this was the first time in a long time he wouldn’t be spending the majority of his days in his cav- er, office. Hopefully he would learn a decent bit about these few students with this rare time.
“Well then, as you have been notified, control of this team belongs to Akira Mikan.” He felt a bit saddened by the fact that he would not be participating with them. Though quickly shook the thoughts off as he would have far more enjoyment in watching his students overcome his simple challenge. “Very well then, Akira, at your command, we move forward.” He joked, passing off the attention to the young warden with a tip from his round hat. He stood in the back of the group, waiting for the young warden’s command to move onward. For such an otherwise stupendous day, there was an odd sense of dread that he could not shake off. Thinking it nothing but a small lack of faith in his students, he tried to ignore the feeling.

For the most part, Akira drowned out what the headmaster said. Not with the intention to be rude, of course. It's just that she already knew the drill for this "hunt" of his, so she wasn't really all that compelled to listen as he explained it to the students. Instead, she found herself wondering how Karin was faring with her part of the this mission, and was a bit disappointed that they couldn't be together for this. Of course, she understood that it would have made little sense for two staff members to escort the students (Headmaster Wright nonewithstanding), but no one said she had to like it.
Either way, she looked over the students, taking some mental notes. Of course, none of them were from her dorm, so she didn't know who either of them were. Astrid and Seria, she didn't recognize at all. She didn't really know Benji very much either, though she did recall occasionally seeing him when she went to visit Karin at the Mana Dorm. Earlier, she made a point of memorizing their names, and looked over some notes regarding their Pokemon overall behavoir on the island. Other than that, though, she didn't know a lot about them. Still, if the Headmaster considered them among the best students, then who was she to argue.
Once control of the hunt was officially passed to her, she nodded. "Alright, guys. Here's the short version of why we're out here. There's an unusual Pokemon somewhere in this area, and we need to find out what it is and why it's here. I have no clue what we're looking for, but the fact that we're here means it's probably something big. So stick close, keep your eyes sharp, and be ready for anything. And if it starts to look bad, then I want you out of here. I don't care how important the rest of the school thinks this is; I'm not about to let any students get hurt under my watch. Now...before we go, are there any questions?"
While she waited, she grabbed an Academy Ball and sent her Aegislash out. He had been briefed personally by Akira before she came here, so he knew what it was she wanted him to do. Without wasting any time, the large sword-like creature shifted into its Blade Mode, then used Cut to slice through whatever thorny vines would be in their way. Once a path was cleared and any questions were taken care of, Akira would nod and lead them deeper into the area, towards where this unusual Pokemon was supposedly located. Hopefully, this wasn't going to be anything major, but, somehow, she had a feeling she wasn't going to be that lucky.

Benji made sure he was on time today, not that they were really given a concrete time...but he knew the Headmaster would be here and he didn't want to end up coming in late. Being one of the top students at the Academy it wouldn't look good if he was tardy, even though he had slept later than he had anticipated today. Still rubbing the sleep from his eyes he approached the entrance to the Thorn Citadel. He nodded to his fellow students, then gave a quick respectful bow to both Mr. Wright and Akira. This was actually the first time he had seen the Headmaster in person and it was quite nerve wracking, though when he spoke he seemed rather kind and that made Benji feel more comfortable being in his presence.
He listened to his words intently and nodded every so often to show he was paying attention. He knew the main reason they were here today was to search for Pokemon who wouldn't normally make their home here. Though something in his gut told him that there was something else in store for them. It wasn't exactly a bad feeling, just he felt like something was off. He couldn't exactly pinpoint it, but he felt that he had to be ready for anything today. He had confidence that his team were strong enough to back him up. So whatever happened they would be prepared. Casually he craned his head to look at the thorny entrance and glared slightly. Today he had worn a thick, long sleeve black jacket. Last time he had gone in a regular shirt and his arms had gotten shredded by the sharp plants inside...this time he wouldn't let that happen. His icy eyes darted around the group, but he felt like staying silent for now. When he needed to speak he would.
His attention was brought to Akira as she began to speak and take the lead she was given. He didn't know much about her, but she seemed to be confident and straightforward which he liked. He was curious what this unusual Pokemon could be. If the Headmaster along with the top students were coming along...it wasn't something to be taken lightly. He didn't have any questions just yet but still spoke. "I'm ready when you are," he said as he looked at everyone with steady eyes. This was a good group of people so he knew this would be interesting. After seeing Akira release her Aegislash he felt like he should bring out a Pokemon of his own as well.
Considering where they were he knew the perfect choice. His fingers grazed across his belt for the right Pokeball and when he found it he clicked it and with a flash of light his Charizard, Duncan, appeared. The large fire-type landed with a thud on the ground and looked around curiously. The beast towered over them and he hoped he wouldn't get in the way. Benji just felt that Duncan was the best choice in this situation...though of course the Pokemon they were searching for could end up being a type that would be bad for his Charizard. They would face that problem when it happened, he had others on his team that he could switch out if needed. After Akira's Pokemon cleared the way he stepped forward ready to enter when the others were ready. He motioned for Duncan to keep a respectful distance and not get in the way.

Seria was just about on time to the place of the rendezvous, it was Thorn Citadel apparently. It was here that she would discover that she would be teaming up with Astrid and someone she didn't quite recognize. Seria heaved a sigh of relief, she knew Astrid had very strong Pokemon so she would be a reliable teammate. As for the other one, she was not sure of his capability. Regardless, it came a bit as a surprise to her that the headmaster, Mr. Wright, was there as well to greet the students alongside the warden who she did not recognize at first glance - until it was brought to her attention that this was Akira.
What a familiar name? Maybe she heard it somewhere before? Seria didn't remember the last time she spoke to Karin, who was a Mana Warden. Oh well! Seria tried to carry herself more seriously upon the statement that Mr. Wright called her and the other students with her as 'top students.' Considering her abysmal performance at the tournament she wasn't sure if he was joking or not. Yes, she was still somewhat hung up over that. She still needed some help with that. In any case, there was some pressure on Seria to perform as well as the other two students with her, as she still didn't have too much confidence in herself.
Akira mentioned that there's an unusual Pokemon in the area that they needed to seek out and possibly hunt. There's a reasoning for that and they needed to find out what that reason was. The Pokemon was probably going to be big, and Akira said that when it started to get really bad they had better get out of there. Seria was a bit reluctant about that but she couldn't argue against the sound logic of that. Akira sent out an Aegislash to cut down the vine and foliage. Meanwhile, she saw the other student, who she didn't know. He promptly sent out a Charizard to help him out in the case of danger.
Seria sighed and casually sent out her Cincinno, the cute rodent with the fat tail. Carrie, of course, was standing by Seria's legs and nuzzled it, missing the nice outdoors. "At your discretion. Let's proceed once we're ready. I'm not sure what we're up against either but I think we'll be just fine with some care. It's also nice to see you too, Astrid." Seria said, smiling at Astrid who she did recognize.

Astrid ended up being early to the rendezvous, a little too excited to be actually doing things again. Even so, it didn't take too much longer for the others to show up. Seria, who Astrid gave a wave to as she showed up, as well as another student who she didn't recognize. And their staff escort was apparently a woman named Akira, who was...quite pretty, although Astrid was going to at least try not to get distracted by cute girls. Or the particular cute girl who had ended up in another group, for that matter. She waved to them as well as they joined the meeting place, soon followed by...oh, hello Headmaster.
Fortunately, the Headmaster seemed to be an agreeable sort, although he put a lot of pressure on them right from the get-go by naming the three of them as being among the current top students. It seemed like a strange proclamation, especially after how she'd been done in by something as simple as sleep during the tournament, but whatever. She hadn't completely found a way to counter that yet, but she'd at least been training hard since then, and was now back and better than ever.
There was a lot of pressure on Astrid now. She'd beaten Seria in the tournament, and she was pretty sure the other one had only been in the Beginner's Tournament, which meant that she was probably expected to be the strongest of the three. She'd have to live up to that now. But, she was ready for that, at least. Well...mostly. She hoped she was. Seeing the other members of the group sending out Pokemon, Astrid did the same.
"Well, we're boldly going were...well, at least I haven't gone before, and seeking out new life of a sort, so I guess this one's on you, Voyager," she said, tossing her Porygon2's ball out in front of her. The digital duck-like creature materialized in front of her, its body blurry as first until sharpening into a smooth, high-resolution model. "Good to see you too, Seria. I'm ready to go when the rest of you are."

As your team furthered in to the Citadel, murmuring and the rustling of trees could be heard. Although pokemon made their homes here, low voices isn’t common in a place inhabited by Pokemon. Clearly you weren’t the only ones in the area; the fact rang even truer as you came face to face with a young woman in the same garb as the thugs that assaulted the city prior. “Oh crap! I thought this place was supposed to be deserted today!” she complained. The thug groaned audibly, “Whatever. I did what I came to do.” She pulled out a device and pressed a button.
A harsh cry could be heard in the distance, along with harsh galloping approaching you at a hurried pace. “Well, better get out of here, sayonara!“ The woman made her escape just as a towering Pokemon vaulted in front of the group. Its hooves brought shining life to the grass beneath it. Its breathing was ragged, and its eyes showed that it was bordering between rage and pain. With a loud cry, the gems on its antlers began to glow as it called forth a wall of thorns blocking your escape. This Pokemon, Xerneas, must have been controlled by that grunt, and the only way for you to get out of the area is for you to best it in a battle. Legendary Encounter! Xerneas has challenged you!Ability: Fairy Aura Facing a legendary Pokemon is nothing to scoff at, and it is going to take a lot more than one Pokemon to calm this mythical being down. Well, good luck.
(Reminder: Al trainers may only have one Pokemon of theirs out at a time.)

Once a path was cleared, Akira returned her Aegislash. His job was finished for now, so she decided to let him rest a bit and save his energy. Either way, Akira'as eyes narrowed when she realized that the murmurs she was hearing wasn't coming from Pokemon. Something was definitely up here. It was then that the group came face to face with a woman, wearing the same uniform as the group of people who attacked Mavro. Akira, for various reasons beyond her control, wasn't able to take part in that mission, though she did hear the details from Karin. From what she gathered, this person matched her description of the attackers perfectly.
As the woman fled, Akira tried to give chase, but she was distracted by the sudden loud cry and the sound of galloping. Almost immediately, Akira had a feeling this was what they were here to find. However, the look on her face made it abundantly clear that she was not expecting what it was they actually found. "...are you fucking serious?! Why the hell is Xerneas here?!" Legendary Pokemon; Their existence was hardly a secret. In fact, many of them were quite well-known. But, not only were they extremely powerful, but it was rare that anyone ever caught more than a glimpse of one. There was one thing that pretty much everyone agreed on, though; if a legendary Pokemon appears before someone, then some serious shit is about to go down.
Akira turned to the students, but, just as she was about to tell them to retreat to somewhere safer, the Xerneas proceeded to seal off the only viable exit, leaving them with no choice but to face it now "...shit. Alright guys! This Pokemon is a Fairy-type, so avoid using any Dragon, Dark or Fight-type Pokemon! If you have any Poison or Steel-type Pokemon, I'd suggest using them! This area looks pretty crowded, so only use one Pokemon at a time! And be careful. This Pokemon is going to be much stronger than any other Pokemon that either you or I have ever faced! Got it?!" And with that, she sent out her Aggron. Then, reaching into her shirt, she pulled out a pendant that she had hanging around her neck, which had a Key Stone engraved into it.
Almost immediately, the Aggron was enveloped by a bright sphere of light, which disappeared in a manner that looked as if it had shattered. Once the light had faded, a Mega Aggron could be seen, standing where the normal one once was. "Elwin, attack the opponent with an Iron Tail! Don't hold back!" The Mega Aggron nodded, charging toward the Xerneas and aiming to strike it with her large, armored tail. Akira nodded, watching the attack, then seeing what the other students would do...
Oh...and the Headmaster too, probably. Actually she kinda forgot he was there...
Summary - Elwin Mega Evolved into Mega Aggron! - Elwin used Iron Tail!

Benji silently followed the group inside of the Citadel. Things were pretty quiet, which was unusual with so many Pokemon inhabiting this area. Something was wrong...he could just sense it. Just as the thought crossed his mind a woman came into view. He didn't recognize her, but he did recognize the outfit. Even though he hadn't been a part of the fight on the city, he had seen many videos that had been caught by news cameras and various security cameras. He felt himself stiffen up at actually being in the presence of someone from Team Origin. He knew this wasn't going to end well, and sure enough after quickly speaking the girl hit a button and a loud cry could be heard in the distance. Benji totally forgot about the thug as something came crashing into view.
But not just something. A Xerneas.
Benji's eyes widened in shock at seeing the magnificent creature. He had read about it in books, but never thought he would ever see it with his own eyes. The Legendary Pokemon seemed to be in some sort of pain and looked totally outraged. Whatever button that woman had used was having some sort of effect over the Xerneas and it wasn't good. The creature seemed to think they were to blame, or at least wanted to take its anger out on them. Their exit was blocked, so running away really wasn't an option at this point. Could they really take on a Legendary? He had confidence in his team, but they had never been trained to face something like this. He couldn't back down now though, they had to work together. "Looks like we won't get away without a fight," he said cautiously to the group as he kept his eyes locked on the Xerneas. He wasn't sure what would set the thing off so he was being careful.
Benji's eyes left the Legendary to focus on Akira as she spoke. The warden looked as shocked as they were and quickly briefed them on typing and what was best against Xerneas. He had planned on using Duncan for whatever their mission was today, but seeing now what they were up against it probably wouldn't be the best idea. He did however have a Steel type along with him today and that seemed like it would be best in this situation. He knew it would still be tough even with the type advantage but they had to try. Quickly he returned his Charizard and after finding the correct Pokeball released Lance his Escavalier. The Steel/Bug Type seemed startled at the sight of Xerneas but when it realized it was in its old home it seemed to gain some sort of confidence. After Akira's Aggron mega evolved and made its attack, Benji didn't waste anymore time and joined in the fight. He could either use a steel type move, or poison since both were good against their foe. If he managed to poison it, that would help greatly to weaken the legendary. He knew exactly what to use. "Lance, let's start off with a Poison Jab!" His Escavalier nodded with a clank of its steel armor and rushed forward. It's lance-like arm glinted with dark purple poison as is smashed into the Legendary Pokemon.

Rustle, rustle. Seria looked about and heard the sound of low voices, that were distinctly not Pokemon. Soon enough, and almost predictably, a young woman soon came into sight - predictably because the woman was in a Team Origin uniform. Well, drat. Soon, the young thug groaned upon discovery, pulling out a device and pressed a button. She ran away shortly after that but not before a harsh cry could be heard in the distance. Harsh galloping sounds. Seria blinked as eventually a Pokemon vaulted in front of the her and the others and soon came upon the realization that this was no mere ordinary Pokemon. The fact that life sprung to life beneath its feet, the majestic antlers it bore, only clued Seria to the fact that this was the freaking Lifebringer. Seria had come face to face with the legendary Pokemon, Xerneas.
Seria was both horrified and amazed at the same time. She had never imagined encountering a legendary Pokemon, let alone this early in her travails. And then this thing! Seria could see just how angry and pained it was in, though. The eyes revealed many things. The warden Akira tried to give chase to the thug who ran away but she blurted out a rather volatile exclamation of surprise at seeing the legendary Pokemon here. That thug must have had something to do with the enraged Xerneas. Seria thought to herself. She expected Akira to tell everyone to get back but unfortunately retreat was not an option.
Seria whirled back and saw that the only exit had been sealed by thorny foliage and other tough plantlife. "It is a trite shame that we had to face the Lifebringer under such drastic circumstances," Seria cursed under her breath as she visibly started to sweat just by being in the mere presence of a legendary Pokemon, let alone something like this. Carrie was already hiding behind Seria's legs, almost aware of the incredible strength that the Xerneas possessed. Seria hushed Carrie and protectively gave her a hug before recalling her to her Pokeball. Seria grumbled.
"I really don't like having to do this, but it looks like we have no choice but to quell the rage," Seria lamented. "I've returned Carrie, I'm going to send out Ashelia!" she called out as she threw another Pokeball out to send out her Rapidash, her only Pokemon who even had a move to counter pure Fairy-types. Seria was shivering from the pressure and powerful influence of the legendary Pokemon. She wanted to be happy for the encounter, but she wasn't expecting to have to defend herself from a raging one.
"I really do wish this encounter would have been under better circumstances." Seria sighed.
Action: Switched Cincinno out for Rapidash.

Oh, it would be those guys again. Team Butthead, or whatever they were called. Astrid didn't even care anymore. They were nothing but problems, so it was no surprise to her that they'd come to ruin what was apparently supposed to be a fun outing. Now Astrid wished she'd sent out Magnate first. The woman had some device that the UFO literally made of magnets could have fried just by floating a little too close. But no, she pressed it and ran away and...oh no. That...did not sound like anything good at all. And then it appeared. It vaulted over a mass of overgrowth to land in front of them. Plantlife sprung up from nothing as it's pointed hooves touched the ground. Life from nothing...this was definitely no ordinary Pokemon.
"Shiiiit," Astrid said as everything started to slide into place. Their Warden chaperone hadn't expected this either. Life had sprung up from its very steps. It's name, Xerneas, something far from ordinary, and something Astrid had only heard in legends from Kalos. And the fact that Team Poketerrorist were involved. The Team IDGAF grunt had pissed off a freaking legend, and now it had aggro'd on their group. Yeah, that was trouble.
"Voyager, I'd like you to do your best impression of an unbreakable wall," Astrid said, taking a step back from her Porygon2 and letting it take battle positions. "Shields at 100% and all that. Battle stations, while you're at it." The digital duck nodded, floating forward. Its eyes flickered, indicating that it was ready for battle. "Alright...Tri Attack!" Astrid called out. Energy coalesced onto the Porgyon2's graphical shell, distorting into pixellated clouds of red, yellow, and blue. A noise like energy weapons charging sounded, and a trio of beams shot from the pixel clouds at the legendary creature. Pixels scattered off of the beams as they launched, becoming wisps of flame, sparks of electricity, and crystals of ice before vanishing.

Xerneas bucked wildly as it took on each of the attacks. The Mega Aggron’s massive, powerful Iron Tail doing the most significant amount of damage. As the life bringing buck panted from the damage, its antlers began to glow and roots extended from its hooves, digging into the earth with Ingrain. Obviously trying to recover the great amount of super-effective damage done to its body. Xerneas kicked its rooting feet, scraping up dirt with the strong appendages. It reeled back and ran for Astrid’s Porygon2, when it was close, it stood up on its hind legs and with its two front legs, began to pound away at the Porygon2 with Close Combat. It then bounced a safe distance away when it was satisfied with its work. Its body began to glow as it absorbed nutrients from the earth, while its defenses were lowered from its previous assault.

Benji watched as the Xerneas took the barrage of attacks. Even though most of them were super effective, the creature seemed to brush them off quite easily. With any normal Pokemon the battle would have been over, but Legendary Pokemon were different. He knew it would take more than a few attacks to even start putting a dent in the HP of the Xerneas. This would be a long and tough battle, but he felt confident they could win, even against such odds. The Xerneas attacked Astrid's Porygon2, then began to use Ingrain. Two moves in one turn, was that possible? Benji thought back on when he had read that book on Legendary Pokemon. He slightly remembered reading a passage that said there sometimes was a chance of them using two moves in one turn. It seemed they were unlucky today.
Benji didn't wait for the others to attack this time and took the lead for the second wave of attacks. He wanted to use another Poison Jab, knowing if he poisoned the Xerneas that would help chip away at its health. Though using a steel type move would do much more damage. After debating in his head for a moment he finally made a decision. "Lance, use Iron Head!" The Escavalier didn't waste any time and rushed towards the Legendary. It's steel armor glinted slightly before it smashed its head right into the large beast. If they were lucky, maybe the attack would flinch. Either way it would do a decent amount of damage.

Seria watched as a furious slew of attacks were launched at the Xerneas, but it appeared to still somehow be standing, and it was able to muster enough energy to act twice in a row, something that, while Seria had not expected it, did not come as a huge surprise to the girl. Regardless, it managed to use Ingrain before attacking fiercely at Astrid's Porygon-2, allowing it to recover some energy by drawing from nutrients from the earth. However, using that Close Combat would reduce its defenses. "Well, try to keep chipping at it with the Steel-type attacks. I'll try and use Poison on it." Seria said solemnly as Ashelia rubbed her hooves against the grass.
"Well, have at it. Ashelia, use Poison Jab!"
The Rapidash whinnied before charging at the Xerneas, inflaming its singular unicorn -esque horn with flame for a moment, and then colliding it with a rust-like point on its horn that seared through the Xerneas with some venomous sensation. Hopefully it would do its job, but if not, Seria had a backup plan. She could play a more supportive role.

Akira wasn't surprised in the least the Xerneas was still standing after that that barrage of attacks. After all, their opponent was a legendary Pokemon. If it did go down that easily...well, Akira wouldn't have exactly complained, but she also would have been a little disappointed. Either way, she was fully-expecting a Fairy-type attack, so when the Xerneas suddenly rushed at the Porygon2 with a Close Combat, she was, to say the least, surprised. Her first instinct was to try and have her Mega Aggron take the attack inn the Porygon's place, but she wasn't fast enough.
Akira then watched as Seria and Benji attacked once again, and called out to her students once more. "If any of your Pokemon know Taunt, now would be a good time to use it! I'll have Elwin cover you as best I can!" She then turned to her own Pokemon "Elwin, use another Iron Tai!" The large Steel-type nodded, once again charging toward the Xerneas and aiming to slam her tail into the creature. As for her suggestion that someone try to use Taunt, her reasoning was simple. It would probably suck if the Pokemon pulled off a Geomancy.

Holy crap that was a lot of damage they'd just thrown at Xerneas. And it was still standing after all of that, too. Wow. No wonder something like that was a legendary creature. Still, it seemed like they had a solid advantage against it. Astrid wasn't going to celebrate just yet, though. One wrong move or nasty surprise could turn the battle around and leave them on the receiving end. She'd heard that Xerneas could draw in energy from the environment to increase its strength dramatically. Anything like that, and they'd be in for a much rougher time.
Fortunately, that wasn't what happened. Instead, it dug into the soil to start healing itself, and then went straight for Voyager. It pummeled the digital duck with its forelimbs, kicking up dirt and pixellated dust in the process. Astrid shielded her eyes, worried that even with its defenses the Porygon2 wouldn't be able to take such a strong attack.
Then, a notification popped up on her Pokedex. Shields at 46%. Astrid grinned at the sight, and sure enough as the dust cleared and Xerneas retook its position, Voyager was still standing, damaged but battle-ready. "Oh, you beautiful space duck," Astrid said, throwing her hand out dramatically. "Voyager, hit it with another Tri Attack while it's guard's down!" And so Voyager did, creating another trio of pixellated energy clouds and focusing them together into a three-colored beam at Xerneas.
