Like a Rock (Mining)

Adolfina had managed to save up, through various means, enough money to get an excavation kit. That was pretty neat. Apparently, the fossil cave had numerous things that could be sold or used for. . . whatever, really. The blonde had no idea exactly how one mined, though. After all, she wasn't one to do the hard work like that. However, it was unlikely that she would be unable to put one and one together. After all, ideas were one percent inspiration, and ninety-nine percent palpitation! No, it's really not, Adolfina. That said, naturally, she could figure the stuff out on her own. So, pulling out a hammer- and not the pick ax, because why would she do something like that?- she began smashing rocks. Or trying to. And failing, naturally. She was just a kid. A ten year old girl who never did anything requiring exertion like that.

Exactly how far would she get? She wasn't just going to pop up at mainland Hoenn. That was for sure.

Adolfina had had a great deal of luck during her last mining trip. She had used her hammer and found an interesting looking piece of metal. Kind of golden-ish. But not quite. Either way! She took that little chunk to the store, where it was identified as a nugget. Turned out, it was really valuable, among the best of the items to find in the mines, going by pure monetary value. How right and proper that someone like herself could find such an item of her first try! She obviously did it right the first time, so, naturally, she had every intention of utilizing the hammer she had during her first trip. She didn't even really need the rest of the kit, it seemed!

”It's hammer time!” She cheered herself on before slamming the mallet into rocks. Yes, Adolfina. It certainly is “hammer time”.

While the girl had not been quite as lucky on her second mining trip as she had been on her first, she was not discouraged. Bad luck came to all. And, who knows? Perhaps some other, less-deserving, person came and found the next nugget that had been intended for her? Whatever the case, the fact still stood that she had found valuable-enough things during her trips. So, hefting her hammer high and slamming down with great force, she proceeded to perform the one thing that mattered here! It was hammer time, and hammer time was synonymous with “Pay Day”. Yes, the allowances at the financial aid department were nice, but there was something just altogether more pleasing about finding a rare item here!

With all the events going on left and right, Adolfina found herself a bit. . . well, not overwhelmed, but annoyed. Sometimes, just going and doing something outside of the norm was the best possible way to do things, and, really, what better option was there than to go into a dark, dank cave with an assortment of tools, smash the walls and floor and even ceiling, and find something of value? Well, there were probably plenty of options, actually. More seriously, it was time for the girl to go mining again. Opening up her kit, she took out her trusty hammer, which had yet to fail her. Then, gripping the handle in both hands, she began to smash rocks at the base of a nearby wall.
