Battle Tactics Class #1 - Instructor: Catherine Eisenberg

Catherine closed her eyes and rubbed at her temples. The classroom was empty, aside from herself and a couple of her Pokemon. The young woman really was not entirely sure how all of this would play out. She was confident in her skills with battling, sure, but she'd never really sat down with people in a formal arrangement and taught them before. Passing pointers and guidance with single people, sure, but that did not equate something like teaching a mob of young minds that were prepared to consume and regurgitate every word uttered with some verbalized stomach acid that singed anything they were spewed out on. Was she ready to teach? She had everything prepared for this first class, yes. Was she ready to teach? Questionable, even at best. She could understand lacking the people to teach a class, but it was still fairly nerve-wracking for someone with no credentials to fill the teaching part.
Then again, she was also a bit socially awkward, so perhaps this would still benefit her in the end?
Rather than a podium, Catherine had a simple wooden desk. It was large, bulky, and a bit ornate, quite like what one would expect from a professor in their office, and a few documents were neatly organized atop the surface. Nothing impressive. Quite like the teacher of the class, really. With her hair casually brushed back and left as it was, there was nothing even remotely out of the ordinary regarding her head. No glasses or anything. Her clothes, while not necessarily formal were still of high quality and could be passed off as a sort of business casual, despite being a dress. Said dress was wisteria in color and loose-fitting. Naturally, nothing that should have been hidden was showing. It was tacky to let that sort of stuff show, after all, and Catherine was taking this role very seriously. The most noteworthy thing about the woman was likely what she was sitting in. Somewhat sad when reviewed objectively, but it was the case. Rather than sitting in a proper chair, she was sitting in a wheelchair. That was tied to the lack of a podium, as well.
The second visible occupant of the room was a rather large (and, by large, this meant “ridiculously huge”) canine stretched out on the floor near the desk. It was the woman's Arcanine, Culaine, and the sole Pokemon she had that didn't follow her “trend”. Whether she was sleeping or not was debatable, but her eyes were closed, and she did tend to be a light sleeper. She'd awaken when necessary, if that was the case. The third “occupant” was neither visible nor in the room, per se. Dracula the Dusclops was actually phased into the ceiling at the present. None would see or otherwise be able to notice him without a sixth sense, but he was there. The woman had to be ready for any rowdy students, after all.
There were no hand-outs prepared. There was no desk assignment. The only thing written on the board was a simple statement: “Find a seat, any seat." No need to be overly grand about it, she figured. After all, though it was the first "class", she intended to use it more to illustrate the point and direction the class would be taking. That said, she would not be surprised if some students stopped coming altogether. That, however, was not her problem. And, even if they disagreed with her teaching methods and goals? The case hidden under the desk would likely persuade some of them to continue coming. Hopefully, though, the rewards wouldn't be the only reason they lingered.
With a sigh, she retrieved a pocket watch from a pouch at her waist. Fifteen minutes until class started. They'd likely start coming any time now.
Her heart would not calm itself; how bothersome. Note: Refer to this prior to posting. This covers most of the specifics for any classes led by Catherine. Information regarding these classes will either be covered in the link or later on in these classes.

Oleg let out a faint sigh as he begun his walk to the class. He had set up some timetables for himself to follow, and he was rather proud of the organization, even when it had only taken around twenty or so minutes to set it all up. He had awoken rather rudely to Walter giving him a few slaps to get him up before the class started. The uniform was rather unfitting on the large boy, and he had instantly taken a dislike to it. It was too tight, and in his opinion, too flashy for anyone to take it seriously.
Oleg finally reached the door to the classroom, looking around for other students as he then shrugged, entering the room. His eyes instantly moved to the teacher, dipping his head down in a respectful nod to her as he then noticed the message on the board. "Find a seat, any seat." Hm, the teacher does not screw around, it seems. He shrugged to himself, moving himself to the front of the class, sitting onto the desk nearest to the door for a fast and easy exit.

William heaved a small sigh as he made his way through the halls. This was going to be his first Battle Tactics class, which he was slightly anxious about. Did he have everything he needed for the first class? Where would he sit? These were questions that were bubbling in his head. "I'll just ask the teacher where to sit." He muttered, as he made his way through the hallways. As for if he was prepared for the first he class he simply reassured himself that it would be alright. After all, he hadn't gotten a note about bringing anything to the first class.
With a slight sigh of relief the blond headed teen walked through the doorway. He had found the class room without any trouble, which was quite an accomplishment in his books. Although he did take a while to get there it appeared as if he was early. For in the room before him was only a single student, besides himself, and the teacher. There were a few Pokemon in the room however, but William simply ignored them. "Whe-" He said, before stopping abruptly, having read the message on the board.
With an agenda and binder in hand William made his way across the room, while making an effort as to avoid the Arcanine. Carefully he placed his books down on a desk at the end of the front row. This position would allow him to read the board clearly, and get out of the class fairly quick. Sliding himself down into the seat William turned to look at Oleg for a moment. He had left a fair amount of desks between them, as to not make things awkward on the first day of Battle Tactics.

Class. It was basically a social gathering between people who had similar goals or were forced to go whether it because of pressure or, like in her case; they didn't want the hassle that came after when people went looking for you. If it weren't for that, Kyrie wouldn't have gone. The shady, so far lonely; box of her room was more than perfect for her. The only ones to ever bother her were her ghosts and Mammon, her newly evolved espeon; wanting attention.
So here she was, Mammon in her arms because absolutely refused to go into his ball (even when she tried to force him), walking down the halls. "Battle Tactics, Battle Tactics, where are the Battle Tac- ah there it is." She hummed to herself in her mind while she chewed on a piece of candy. Rather slowly, Kyrie made her way to the door, peeking inside while Mammon hopped onto her shoulders. Two other students were already there, both she didn't recognize; then the teacher and one very large dog-tiger. Kyrie lingered in the hall for a while, staring at the giant dog-looking pokemon thinking that it's name would magically pop into her mind.
It didn't. A small sigh escaped her as she edged into the room, sticking as close to the wall as she could and looking at the teacher then the board. 'Find a seat' - easy enough. Still keeping close to the wall, Kyrie headed for the farthest corner she could find. Normally she would've picked the seat closest to the door but that one was already taken. Mammon seemed distracted, constantly staring up at the cieling with his fur bristling; but Kyrie didn't notice. No she sat in one of the middle rows to the very back. When in a forest, blend in with the trees as they say. Easier to doze off and draw that way too. Well, as long as Mammon wouldn't bug her. Though that seemed impossible with him already sitting on her desk, begging for some pettings by head butting her in the face. His eyes were still on the ceiling while he did that, kind of creepy really. The purple cat didn't even bother with the giant dog over yonder but the ceiling was just horrible apparently.

There was always a class where one would learn something new at the academy. With the leaf lizard following closely behind, she looked up at a sign that said "Battle Tactics" Although Claude was newly caught, he was quite ready for getting some battle experience with other Trainer's Pokemon if any. She scooped him up and held him within her arms, so as to let him see better in a person's point of view. She entered the classroom where there were already some students and one student from her dorm with a light purple cat-fox of some sort. The leaf lizard looked at the light purple cat-fox curiously, though he had not battled any Pokemon that resembled that before. Sitting down at a random seat, she quietly waited for the class to begin.

Post by Tristan Carter on Jun 24, 2014 1:59:04 GMT
Tristan had been looking forward to this for a while. His first class since arriving at the academy, it was a pretty big deal to him. A few questions plagued his mind about it, sure; but he was sure he would get the answers needed. After all, this was a class led by a teacher. Where else was he going to get answers?
As he walked into class, though, he noticed a few things: He wasn't the first there, the class wasn't set up the way he had been led to believe (a fact he was grateful for, if only because of class safety as attacks went flying every which way), and the teacher didn't have the typical podium set up. Tristan saw why and decided not to dwell on it.
He saw the message on the board and took a seat that was a good distance from everyone else. He then looked over his classmates before turning to the teacher. "How has your day been so far?" he asked the teacher. "I hope it's been well."

Post by Adolfina von Brauer on Jun 24, 2014 14:48:15 GMT
Adolfina had a unique view of teachers. As one who was raised to be better than everyone, teachers were a unique trial to overcome. Her respect for them would, ultimately, be embodied by her taking every bit of information they could give, breaking and twisting it into the forms that best served her, then utilizing that renewed concept to best and overcome and thoroughly break them. The ultimate respect for a teacher was to overcome them, to succeed them, after all. That was the rough concept of the girl's thoughts as she headed to class. They weren't nearly as clean or refined, though. She did not have her Pokemon out, though her newly-evolved Whimsicott would have easily been worth flaunting, she believed.
The door was victim to the violent force of a ten year old slinging it open. "Golden" orbs scanned the room. Boy. Girlish boy. Girl. Boyish girl. Weird boy. Only two students seemed marginally normal. Several Pokemon just so happened to be out. One even looked evolved- it was probably one of Eevee's evolved forms. Only reason she knew that was because she did research after catching her own. So she wasn't the only one working hard with her Pokemon- that was interesting. Good to know she wouldn't be too bored when showing the lesser beings their place.
The students were fairly. . . spread out. It was a large enough room to accommodate plenty of students, so, with just a few, there was little need to group up outside of necessity. That was good, really. Eying the seat closest to the teacher, the maiden tressed in the pink uniform strode forward. There was neither hesitation nor shame about her- only a sense of pride and comfort, even in an environment filled with strangers. She strode to the middle of the front row, basically directly in front of the teacher. She gracefully sank into the seat, putting the few utensils she might have possibly needed down upon the desk's surface. And then she folded her hands together and waited, patiently, for class to begin.
She had only the highest of expectations from a teacher at this academy, and that massive hound on the ground only helped solidify that this woman before her was going to fit the bill.

Post by Seria Floria on Jun 24, 2014 15:02:00 GMT
Truth to be told, Seria hadn't actually thought too hard about the current arrangements regarding actually learning. Of course, with the advent of what appeared to be a 'Battle Tactics' class, Seria scratched her head and figured maybe it would be best to start there. Seria knew way too much about legendary Pokemon and their capabilities despite never having actually seen one, and most of the local Pokemon in her area and in Sinnoh, but all of what she knew about battle tactics where what she observed from her parents when battling. She was just a greenhorn in the grand scheme of things, as well, so Seria knew she had a long way to go. On the way to the classroom, she saw a very young girl, around ten years old, violently slam the door open and stood in place, probably looking who was inside, before striding seemingly confidently in.
Seria blinked as she silently pitter-pattered her way into the classroom as well, looking around. Unfortunately, it was only then and there she realized that the girl she just saw enter the classroom was also wearing a pink uniform, which meant... they were in the same dorm. Oh dear. She seems rather rude... Seria thought to herself, but tried not to seem too intimidated by it as she entered the classroom. She saw who she could only assume was the teacher, accompanied by a strong Pokemon, presumably her's, as well as other students, probably her classmates.
Seria found herself seated in the middle of the room, not too close to the front and nowhere near the back, either. There indeed, was an Arcanine there. Maybe there was another one too, but Seria was not so sure of this. She couldn't tell for sure. For the meantime, Seria looked around the room for a moment after she took her seat, before shifting her focus towards the teacher to await the start of the lesson.

Post by Astrid Sherinian on Jun 24, 2014 17:17:17 GMT
Battle Tactics, was it? Astrid had to admit, she was amused by the idea of attending her first class on the subject after already getting into a couple of fights. Sure, they had been with wild pokemon, but it was already enough that Magnate had evolved.
Magnate, notably, was not floating behind Astrid as she made her way to class. Astrid had already learned her lesson when it had messed up one of the robots around Bolt Dorm. So, now, she only let it out when not around sensitive electronic equipment, and instead let one of her other new Pokemon friends tag along. Today, it was Xanadu who was following behind her. The alien-like Pokemon was still less than pleasant towards strangers, but she was at least on her best behavior today and not doing any more than giving everyone else blank-looking stares.
Astrid, however, gave everyone who'd arrived before her a bright smile and a wave as she entered the classroom, then started looking around for a seat. There were a few promising ones open, particularly around the middle or near the back. She knew better than to try to stand out. This wasn't her stage, after all. But she also didn't want to tuck herself away in a corner, where she looked like she was actively avoiding all attention. "Hm...what do you think, Xanadu?" Astrid asked her Elgyem. Xanadu looked around the room for a couple seconds, briefly fixing her stare on the other pokemon sitting out with their trainers. Then, curiously, up towards the ceiling, before finally bringing it back down and settling on an Espeon by a purple-haired girl near the back.
"Works for me," Astrid said, making her way to the back and taking the seat next to the girl. "Hey," she said to the girl as she sat down. "Nice to meet you. I'm Astrid. Let's both do our best!"

Post by Sonia Strugatskaya on Jun 24, 2014 20:01:36 GMT
Sonia trod down the hallway in hopes of spotting the Battle Tactics classroom. The girl was a bit anxious to get there, being her first formal "attendance" of the academy. Sure she had done plenty of exploring and battling on her own, but everything she had done up to this point was extra-curricular in nature. She hadn't attended an official class, gotten assignments for teachers, or even mingled with other students. Of course, this class would be the beginning to the end of that. What class would be more fitting for her to start with than Battle Tactics? She had barley browsed over the other subjects, but she at least had some experience in this subject. Heck, she even had a few evolved Pokemon to show for it. The more she thought about it, the more she wanted to get started. On that thought, the girl spotted her destination off to the side.
Peeking into the classroom, the girl looked over the entirety of the classroom before actually stepping in. A number of students had already entered and taken their seat as well as a few that chose to linger around. A very clear designation to take "any seat" was written on the board. Right below that simple instruction sat the teacher. Rather, she knew it was the teacher going off of where she was seated and her general attire. She wore no uniform, but her own clothes. They seemed like something a teacher would wear, but at the same time Sonia felt herself giving them another description. "Comfy." At least, that is what they looked like to her.
More importantly, as the girl finally did enter the room, she gave a cheerful smile as she noticed the rather large Arcanine laying down. It was clear to Sonia that this Pokemon was a quite a bit older than the ones she had been seeing around lately. Small details here and there gave that away, coupled by her experience working on a ranch. Walking over to the large dog Pokemon, the girl pet it for a little bit. The fur was hot and bristly to the touch. Once satisfied though, she turned around and found a seat in the front row. She was in a good mood after that. After all, she was about to start her formal education that would hopefully shape her for the better.

Post by Annie Prince on Jun 25, 2014 1:23:14 GMT
Battle Tactics. The very name sent a thrill up Annie's spine. This was what she was here for, the greatest reason she had come to this academy in the first place. She was here because she wanted to train Pokémon for battle.
Her Pokémon were held in their Poké Balls at her hip, and her blue bag was slung over her shoulder, when she walked into the classroom. Surveying it, she saw immediately that several people, apparently even including the teacher, had let their Pokémon out. Annie made note of that. She had already figured out that it would probably be unwise to let Senka wander around without close supervision during class unless it was terribly boring, but she would consider letting Dušana keep her company.
The teacher was a fairly young woman in a purple dress who sat in a wheelchair behind the desk, Annie noted. She wondered why. Behind the teacher was a whiteboard reading simply, "Take a seat, any seat." Accordingly, Annie headed for a seat on the far side of the classroom, second row. No one was particularly close by, which suited her fine. She was here to learn, not to socialize, after all.
Once she reached her seat, she picked up one of the Poké Balls from her belt and pressed the button to release Dušana. The Snorunt materialized on her desk, and Annie rested her hand on the little creature's hat. "This is a class I'll be coming to a lot," she whispered to her Pokémon. "I'd like to help you to get used to it here."
The crystalline chirp she got in reply was all Annie needed to know.

Post by Tanya Christianson on Jun 25, 2014 2:36:08 GMT
The enthusiasm that was bubbling through Tanya was at breaking point as she ran towards her first class. It was her first class in the academy. She made it. That thought was still a little odd, but it still excited her nonetheless. She was learning Battle Tactics. Battle Tactics! What other school teaches a class like that?
She bursted into the class and stopped when she got inside, panting as she started to survey her surroundings. Her eyes gleamed with anticipation as she saw all the pokemon that were out in the classroom. Taking out one of her pokeballs, she released Daniel, who promptly landed on the floor and looked up at his trainer in mild confusion.
"Look at this Daniel. This is the Battle Tactics class! This is my first class ever in this academy!" She yammered to her pokemon, who tilted his head and looked up at his trainer. "We probably should find a seat or something like that. Yeah, before they get all taken up!"
Her eyes scanned the room, trying to find the perfect place to sit. After all, that's what the blackboard told her to do. All the students had different color uniforms, which she learnt was distributed by which dorm they were in. Therefore, she specifically looked out for blue, light blue or purple uniforms. Eventually, she saw a girl with a Snorunt sitting on the second row who had a Wave Dorm uniform. Almost instantaneously, Tanya rushed towards the girl, hoping to sit next to her so that she could be next to one of her dormmates. Daniel, who was still confused about what was going on, jumped when he saw Tanya move and ran after her, overwhelmed by the whole experience.
She eventually reached her destination, a spare seat that was directly to the right of the girl. She couldn't help but notice her beautiful, white hair and how it contrasted with the scars on her face. She stood still for a moment, getting her breath back and taking in the physical appearance of the girl before she put on a big grin and addressed the Snorunt girl.
"Hey there, you're a fellow Wave Dorm member, right? My name is Tanya and this is my Buneary, Daniel." She declared rapidly, gesturing over to Daniel next to her who looked up at the girl and smiled. "I guess we're going to be classmates for our time here. Isn't that just so exciting? I hope we have a good year together! What's your name by the way?"

Chris merely found himself wondering in a bit after everyone else, he wasn't exactly the best at keeping time, but still, better late than never right, and skipping class probably wouldn't be a good idea, even though Chris already had some experience at battling thanks to Dusk, who right now was by far the most experienced Pokémon on his entire team. finding a seat close to the back, Chris merely sat down in silence and began scanning the room, as if he was trying to work out who he had as classmates... although he only really recognized two of them.... Seria, and that Oleg kid who seemed to absolutely hate him.
Chris let Dusk out of her poke ball and merely waited in silence, seeing little need to actually speak to anyone at this point in time... Chris isn't known for being extremely... talkative.

Post by Catherine Eisenberg on Jun 25, 2014 16:15:07 GMT
Things were fairly simple. The first chunk of students she received filtered into their seats with minimal noise. One asked her how her day was, offering sentiments. Whether it was genuine or an attempt of a student to get on her good side was beyond her. She nodded in acknowledgement. Her day had been fine enough, after all. No need to give further thought to it. The next bunch was ushered in with a tumultous door-opening. Then another silent one, one already mingling with other students, one tinkering with Culaine, much to the dog's. . . apathy, really. Then another social pair appeared, though separate, and ended up sitting and speaking together. And then a single, silent straggler.
Well, that seemeed to be everyone, then. At least, that she was willing to wait for before getting started. Given that it was the first day, she'd wait a little longer before registering anybody as tardy. Slowly, she raised a hand to her mouth and coughed. While not exactly the most elegant of methods for clearing the room of noise- or even the most notable- she wasn't there to impress. She was there to teach. She lowered her hand to her desk, remaining seated for reasons that would have been obvious to the observant.
"Good morning, everyone. I hope you found your way here without too many issues." That was one reason she was willing to tolerate a few stragglers. No directional sense in a place like that could be terrible. "Welcome to Battle Tactics. This course will cover the numerous details one can use to forge their victory. I, Catherine Luciana Eisenberg, will be your instructor. You may call me by my first or last name. Acceptable titles are 'Miss' or 'Instructor'. I'm not a professor, so calling me that would be an insult to some of the other teachers we have here." She paused, letting that all sink in. That should have covered everything regarding the "introduction".
"With the official business out of the way, I'm going to go ahead and shift to the point of this first lesson. Purely based on the knowledge each of you possesses, which 'Type' of Pokemon would you say is the best? Of the eighteen known Pokemon Types, which is the 'ruler', and why? As many of you can answer as you like. Don't feel intimidated or self-conscious just because someone has already answered." With that question, she sat back and waited to see exactly where her students were in awareness. It'd also serve to give an idea of how many "elitist" types there were. That sort would likely loathe her intended teaching style.
Which, frankly, was not her problem.

Oleg pondered the question for a long while, tapping his chin in thought as he finally spoke up. "Well. While arguably every type has it's own ups and downs, I'd say the Electric type is the best. It's only weakness is the ground type, and sure, those might be a bit common, but most of them are slow, and Electric types are kinda fast, and can learn things like bug type attacks and such to atleast do some some sort of damage to them. And if we have to talk about strenghts, well... Let's see here. Effective against both flying and water types, which are common types to be used by almost everyone. Heck, even I have a flying type in my team. All in all, effective at attacking, and only has one weakness that in my mind can easily be countered with the right attacks and techniques, and is hampered by their low speed."
Oleg folded his arms, watching the teacher as he waited for the reaction. In his mind he had described everything he could think about the type, and he was damn proud of it too.
