Up for a Scrap [Tanya/Battle]

Astrid wasn't terribly surprised to find that the school had a very large area set aside for pokemon battles. Sure, they could be done just about anywhere, but some people liked the large arena feel, and others wanted an audience. Sometimes those two overlapped. Like with her, really. She was happy to get a break from the stage life, but she couldn't deny that she felt more comfortable on one than the average person.
She hadn't actually come today to battle, mind. She wouldn't pass one up if it came, but for the moment she was just checking out the facilities. She'd wandered around for a bit, looking over each of the arenas in turn. In the process, she'd spotted multiple cameras set up. Some of them were even on. After waving into one, she settled on one of the arenas and stood at one end, sizing up the field. It was large enough for most pokemon to have plenty of room to move and fight with ease. Although, Astrid could see some issues arising if someone brought a Wailord. Her own pokemon, at least, would be just fine.
"I wonder if anyone else is around," Astrid thought out loud once she was satisfied. "I could go for an opening act."

A place just for pokemon battles? That sounded like her type of area. Checking her map to see if she was going in the right direction, Tanya ran into the place which she thought was the arena. The academy was so large that, while she wouldn't like to admit it to others, she found herself getting a bit lost in the area.
That's why she had her head stuck in the map. She continued to walk, completely oblivious to her surroundings and in a somewhat brisk pace as she tried to get the her location as soon as possible. She wondered if she was going to be able to have a pokemon battle. Who would the trainer be? Would they be like super mega strong or at her level? She hoped for the latter. After all, curbstomps were not fun in the slightest.
Due to having her focus on the map, she didn't notice the girl that was coming up in front of her. She only looked up from her map when she got way too close to the other girl. At that point, Tanya let out a loud yelp as she smashed into the poor student, tumbling backwards onto the floor.
"Oh my god, are you ok? I totally didn't mean to do that!" Tanya apologized, pushing herself up and standing awkwardly for a moment. Judging from her uniform, the girl seemed to come from the Bolt Dorms. She also seemed vaguely familiar, but she didn't know where from. At the moment though, Tanya gave the girl an apologetic look as she scratched the back of her head.

Whumph.
The next thing Astrid knew, someone had crashed straight into her, knocking her off-balance. She planted one foot in front of her to catch herself before she fell, but still found herself stumbling forward and ended up taking several more steps before she managed to regain her balance and stand up straight again. "Ooh, that wasn't graceful at all," she groaned, looking back towards the person who'd collided with her.
The other girl, at least, seemed to have tumbled as well, but had recovered quickly enough that Astrid felt that she didn't need to worry too much. "It's fine, I'm fine," Astrid said, dusting herself off. "I was out in the open and everything though, how'd you manage to run right into me?" She gave the girl a once-over once she was done talking. Obviously Wave dorm from the uniform, gave off the impression of being a bit excitable. And carrying a map, which would explain how she hadn't been looking where she was going. Also probably meant she was looking specifically for the Battle Dome. "Hey, did you come here for a battle?" she asked.

Luckily, the girl didn't seem too upset by the sudden appearance of Tanya and she managed to stay on her feet, much unlike herself. Tanya let out a brief sigh of relief as she didn't have to deal with an angry girl. However, she did question her about how she managed to crash into her in the first place.
"Well, like, I was sorta a bit lost and I had to use the map to find this place and then I wasn't looking and then when I look up, I saw you and then it was like 'BLAM'! So yeah." Tanya recounted, trying to look at the girl in the eyes instead of looking away in embarrassment. After Tanya had finished speaking, the girl said words that caused her heart to race in anticipation. Tanya couldn't help herself as words began to jump out of her mouth before she even had time to properly think about them.
"Hell yeah I came to battle! After all, we are here to get better and stuff. I know I only recently got my pokemon, but like I totally want to battle with them so I can sync with their flow and emotions, if you know what I mean. Plus I'd get to meet awesome trainers and meet more awesome pokemon!" She was nearly jumping up and down with glee as she continued to talk.
"Hey, since you're like here and stuff, do you wanna have a totally awesome battle of epicness? It'll be like my first battle here and like I wanna make it up to you since battles are like super fun and whatnot. So what do you say?" Tanya asked, barely able to hold back how excited she was about the prospect of battling.

Wow. Excitable was a bit of an understatement. Once the girl started talking again, she was off, not to stop for anything until she was done. Astrid blinked a couple of times, then gave the girl her brightest smile. Excitability was something she could handle, at least, and she had a bit of that to go around as well. She needed to be up on stage to get that same kind of energy, but...well, they were next to an arena, at least.
"Yeah, sure," Astrid answered when the girl was done. "I just came here to check the place out, but I'd love to have a battle! I've done a few fights against wild pokemon, but this'll be my first time going up against another trainer, too. So what do you think, two on two? Three on three? I could go for a full team, but if you're just starting out too that may not be a good idea." She didn't jump around, but from her bright expression and brisk speech it wasn't hard to figure out that Astrid was pretty excited about having her first battle too. Right before she moved to get ready, though, she realized that she still hadn't introduced herself. "By the way, my name's Astrid. What's yours?"

"Could we like do two on two? I'd like to try and get into the groove with my starting pokemon." Tanya replied, glad to see that her enthusiasm was responded in kind with the girl in front of her. As she started thinking about tactics and which pokemon to use, she heard the other girl introducing herself. "The name's Tanya. Nice to meet you. Now, you gonna battle or what?" Tanya yelled as she sprinted towards one end of the arena and positioned herself in the place that she was supposed to stand. As she got out Dani and Daniel's pokeballs, she thought about which one to use. Dani was pretty strong. She could debilitate her opponent using poison as well as dish out strong attacks. However, she got completely walled by steel-type pokemon and judging from the girl's uniform, it was a possibility that she had that type. Therefore, she chose Daniel. After all, he had versatility and was able to put a good match with his Jump Kick. She put away Dani's pokeball and held Daniel's tightly in her hand. "You're time to shine has come, let's go Daniel!" She declared dramatically, twirling on the spot before throwing out the pokeball. Daniel the Buneary appeared on the field, steadying itself into a fighting stance and put on a look of determination. Time for the battle to begin. "Yes, two on two is fine," Astrid said, taking her place at the other end of the arena. The girl then responded to her introduction. Tanya, was it? That was a name Astrid would have to remember. She seemed like the kind of person her old 'Luna' stage personality was aimed at. But that was fine. She didn't mind her fans, so long as they recognized her as more than a personality. That wasn't the kind of thing she should be thinking about at the moment. Now, it was time to battle! Astrid let Tanya send out her first pokemon first. A Buneary emerged from the pokeball and prepared itself to fight. "Hmm, interesting choice," Astrid said, thinking over her own choices. She didn't plan on using Magnate in this fight, not unless the girl proved to have something that could match it. But the wave dormer would probably have a water or ice type as her other, so she'd save one that could more easily handle that for later. Maybe Quadraxis or O'Batahan. For now, though, she had a good match for a Buneary. "Alright, Xanadu, center-stage! Dazzle the enemy and show them paradise!" In contrast to the light but cheerful voice she had used before, Astrid was now calling out in the best 'announcer voice' she could manage without a microphone. She threw Xanadu's pokeball high into the air as she finished speaking, letting the Elgyem within emerge and drift down onto the battlefield. Xanadu's otherwise blank, reflective eyes seemed to light up as she saw the scene. She took a fighting stance herself, or as close to one as she could manage with such short arms and legs, and awaited her first command. "Xanadu, start us off! Calm mind!" Astrid called out. The Elgyem folded her arms and legs, letting the light in her eyes go out and becoming perfectly still. {Spoiler: Xanadu the Elgyem}Gender: Female Ability: Synchronize Moveset: Heal Block, Hidden Power (Fighting), Calm Mind, Zen Headbutt

"Thanks!" Tanya called out to Astrid, grinning widely before steeling her face in anticipation for the battle. She waited to see what the other girl was going to send out, shaking excitedly in anticipation. When she saw that she sent out an Elegym, she was glad that she didn't send out Dani. That could've sucked.
Once the Elegym, Xanadu, entered the stage she couldn't help but get more pumped. The battle had started and a determined fire blazed in her eyes as she cracked her fingers. She had never battled against anyone other than her siblings before. Even then, they used their parents' pokemon so while she did feel excited, a little part of her inside was nervous. She didn't let it show though. No weakness.
"If that's the game we're gonna play, might as well get this show on the road." Tanya yelled out, swiping her hand across. "Swoop in for an attack with Dizzy Punch!"
At the sound of Tanya's command, Daniel started to bounce around the battlefield. He first started left, but then seemed to have lost any semblance of order as he advanced towards the Elegym. Once he reached the Elegym, he clenched up his ears and then used his right then left ear to deliver rhythmic punches to the psychic pokemon.

And right away, Tanya had her Pokemon go on the offensive. Xanadu was immediately faced with a combo of disorienting punches from the Buneary's ears, thrown seemingly at random from the second blow onward. While Xanadu's steadied mental state boosted her ability to withstand special-based attacks, physical blows still hit her at full force, and the one that connected with the Elgyem was no exception. It sent her spinning and reeling from the force of it, but fortunately did not manage to do anything more than raw damage. It still hurt, but it was something she could survive.
Nonetheless, Astrid gave a suitably dramatic reaction of shock to the attack. "Xanadu! Hang in there!" she called out. The light returned to the Elgyem's eyes soon after, and she resumed the fighting pose she'd taken before calming her mind. Astrid smiled. "It's okay, everything will be just fine. After all, we have that. So let's show them! Hidden Power!"
Lights in Xanadu's eyes and at the tips of her arms flared into existence at the command. They came together in a dazzling and disorienting display of shifting colors: red, gold, then green, like something out of a song, before beginning the cycle anew. But it was much more than just a light show, as after a couple seconds, Xanadu fired them as orbs of power at the Buneary. The same orbs that managed to punch through even Magnate's sturdy metal shell.

Tanya cheered on the Buneary when she hit the Elegym with her dizzying array of punches. While he didn't have the most diverse moveset, the situation called for an offensive strike. While Tanya could raise his speed with Agility, he was already faster than the Psychic pokemon, so she didn't feel the need to. As for it's ability, Synchronize doesn't really affect Skrelp that badly, considering the fact that it's immune to poison.
Knowing that the Elegym used Calm Mind to bolster it's special attack and defense, Tanya braced herself for the attack that Xanadu was going to unleash onto her Daniel. Running through what she remembered, she didn't think that Elegym could naturally learn any Fighting Type moves that would be super effective against Daniel. Hopefully, due to Daniel having a somewhat high special defense for it's stat spread, he would be able to take the next attack.
Tanya could only watch as the orbs of light rush towards her pokemon and smash into her. She winced as the Buneary got launched far backwards, the intensity of the attack reflecting in the pained look on the Buneary's face as it collapsed onto the floor. She completely forgot about Hidden Power.
"Daniel, are you ok?" Tanya called out, praying that he wasn't too badly hurt from the attack. However, the Buneary slowly pushed himself up, staggering around in pain as the effect of the attack hit him hard. Based on how hard it hit, Tanya concluded that it was Fighting Type. Obviously, Daniel couldn't take one more attack. However, he might as well do as much damage as he could before he was defeated.
"Daniel! I know you're hurting, but unleash one last Dizzy Punch on the Elegym!" Tanya commanded. The Buneary took a moment to correct itself, before it started it's dizzy display again. However, when using it's complicated movements, it jumped behind the pokemon and unleashed another combo of timed hits with it's ears.
While Tanya could've swapped him out, it wasn't like he was going to do much in his state. There was also the issue that Skrelp's typing was weak against Elegym. She reckoned that weakening it now was probably the best thing she could do considering her circumstances.

The attack hit, and was resoundingly successful. Astrid punched a fist into the air as she saw how effective it was. At this rate, the battle was in the bag. Or at least, this round of it. Astrid still wouldn't have any idea what Tanya would send out next until she did it. But taking the edge early on, especially with only two Pokemon in play, would give her a solid advantage.
But it was clear from their response that the Buneary still had some fight left in him. Astrid waited, anticipating the response. From Tanya's words, it was clear that they both knew that the Buneary wouldn't take a second hit like that. But he still put up a valiant effort, going into another dizzy and complicated combo, punching Xanadu and sending her spinning. This time, it looked like Xanadu had taken more damage as well, as she was having trouble staying in the air. In fact...no, she'd just dropped to the ground and was teetering on her stubby legs. "Xanadu! No!" Astrid called, worried that the Elgyem would fall over. But, remembering what had happened when she'd first caught her, Astrid didn't run over just yet. And sure enough, seconds later, the lights in her eyes and hands came back to life.
"Let's finish this in style! Dazzle them with one more Hidden Power!" Astrid called. Xanadu rose back into the air, hands and eyes shining brightly as she gathered more energy in the same shining, shifting colors. They all coalesced together, then Xanadu shot them as a stream of orbs of energy at the Buneary.

Tanya watched as the psychic pokemon got battered by Daniel's attacks. From the way it looked, it seemed as if it had gotten a pretty bad beating. Wait, was it fainting? She could feel her excitement rising as she watched as the pokemon fell to the floor and look, for the moment, to be unconscious. Did she win?
"Oh come on!" Tanya yelled in frustration as she watched the Elegym get back up. It wasn't like she was expecting that hit to defeat the pokemon, but it could've at least not have acted like it was defeated. She grimaced as she watch the set of dazzling lights fly towards her Daniel and batter him about. Once again, he was hurled back and slammed into the floor. This time though, he wasn't getting back up.
"Good job Daniel, you did your best." Tanya said with determination, her eyes turning intense as she sent her pokemon back into her ball. Moving her hand over Dani's pokeball, she looked towards Astrid and Xanadu and gave them a stoney glare.
"While we may be down, we're not out. Time to show what we've got! Go Dani!" Tanya recited, adopting a battle pose before throwing her pokeball high into the air. Her Skrelp materialized in front of her, moving in between her and her opponent and giving them a glare similar to that of her trainer.
"Dani! Double Team, now!" She commanded with stinging fury. At the sound of the order, Dani began moving in a surprisingly blistering speed considering the fact that it was a seahorse. As it continued to move faster and faster, copies of Dani started appearing around the Elegym, boosting her evasion and making the next attack that much harder to hit.

Astrid couldn't laugh a little at Tanya's reaction when Xanadu got back up. Yeah, that was pretty close to how she sounded when she broke free of the first ball thrown at her. It was nice to actually see someone else on the receiving end of Xanadu's trickery.
Even better news, her last attack finished off the Buneary. Which meant that she was already halfway done. Now, she just needed to not get completely floored by Tanya's next Pokemon. Which...didn't seem likely. Tanya sent out a Skrelp next, with a similarly dramatic proclamation to Astrid's own. She then proceeded to open with a Double Team, confounding any chances to hit it.
"Hmm, this could be trouble," Astrid said. Did she switch, or did she keep going? Xanadu wasn't in the best shape, although she'd proven that she could keep going. "Alright, Xanadu! Let's give it our best, and bring this one down too! Zen Headbutt!"
Xanadu gathered psychic energy to her enlarged head, creating a glowing purple aura around it. Looking between the illusory copies of the Skrelp, she focused on one of them, then charged at it to crash into it with a psychically-enhanced headbutt.

As she watched the illusionary copies dance around the pokemon, Tanya felt a faint shred of hope. Maybe there was a chance that she could succeed and win this match. So long as the next pokemon that comes out isn't Steel, she had a decent chance of making a comeback. Right now, she was calculating plans and trying to find a way to claw out of this situation.
What didn't help was that Dani getting hit, and as she was hit, she spun in a circle backwards, slightly recoiling due to the same type attack boost alongside the fact that it was super effective. Luckily for her though, Zen Headbutt was a physical attack, so her Skrelp was still able to fight, though there was some noticable damage done to the pokemon.
"You can do it Dani! Spray it with your Sludge Bomb!" Tanya exclaimed, her passion starting to burn intensely as she gritted her teeth for this attack to hit. She knew that Sludge Bomb was a powerful attack, most powerful thing in her arsenal, and it didn't suffer from accuracy problems. Hopefuly, Daniel had done enough damage to the pokemon so that this next hit could finish it off.
The illusionary copies still existed as Dani started accumulating a ball of sludge in front of her. After it reached a somewhat large size, she spat out the ball with considerable force, which flew swiftly towards Xanadu. Clenching her fists, she waited for the effects of the attack. She knew that Dani could do it.

Astrid again pumped her fist as Xanadu scored a direct hit. Things were going well. She almost certainly had this in the bag now. Even if Xanadu went down in the next hit, her next Pokemon should be able to finish the Skrelp off. Sure enough, though, the Skrelp unleashed a Sludge Bomb as soon as it recovered, which also scored a direct hit on Xanadu and caused her to collapse to the ground. This time, no matter how much Astrid waited and prayed, she didn't get back up.
"You did great out there. Come on back and rest," Astrid said, recalling Xanadu once it was clear that the Elgyem wasn't playing around this time. Then, she spun around on the spot, switching his pokeball for another one, and throwing that up in the air as well. "You may have defeated the envoy of paradise, but you won't be able to handle my next Pokemon!" Astrid called out, resuming her announcer voice from the beginning of the match. "Show them the beauty of technology! Go, Quadraxis!"
As the pokeball hit the ground it opened, and the shining blue robot leg that comprised her Beldum emerged. Contrary to Xanadu's impressive entrance, the Beldum's was more simple. It stood itself up on its 'foot' for a second, then levitated itself into the air with the eye on its 'joint' facing towards the Skrelp.
"Now, let's continue where we left off! Zen Headbutt!" Astrid called out. Much like Xanadu before it, Quadraxis gathered an aura of psychic energy around itself, focusing on its 'joint'. Once it became strong enough, it charged, aiming for one of the illusory Skrelp and hoping it was the real one.
