#1 Pokemon Breeding 101─Deirdre Brennan

Deirdre bustled around the classroom, getting everything perfectly in order to start the day. An outside eye would think the young teacher's need for order was just desire to make a good first impression... which was partially true. It was more the fact that her nerves had her stomach in her throat, and despite her excitement the nagging thought of how she had never actually taught in the classroom sense of the word sat heavy in the back of her mind. When she was nervous, she cleaned. It didn't matter that the room was already near immaculate. If one pencil could be partially out of place, it was something to hurry and fix.
Eventually, the Sylveon that had taken her place on the neatly organized desk─a spot designated for her to lay and all─jumped off and trotted over to her trainer. Reaching out her ribbon-like feelers she took Deidre's hand, and turned back towards the desk, chirping quietly. As soon as Plum reached her, Deidre could feel herself calm almost instantly. She was grateful, and knew her Pokemon was right. There was no use fretting now, the students should be showing up any time! Flattening her cotton-candy blue hair and straightening her (admittedly silly looking) pantsuit she followed, sitting behind the desk.
The room was (obviously) organized to a tee. The desks were lined facing the front, with plenty of room between them to traverse and allow Pokemon to move if needed. Each one had a name card for each student to write their name on and face forward. In the back of the room laying quietly was a large Rapidash named Quince, eyes sparkling mischievously. Despite the troublemaker look in his long face, he was gently coddling three eggs close to him. An astute student would be able to tell the warmth from the larger Pokemon was helping keep the eggs nice and hot. Around the walls of the room were plenty of decorations, from silly motivational posters, to little factoids about eggs and Pokemon alike.
At the front of the room was a drawer filled desk in the corner, atop which now lay the Sylveon again. Next to her was a small stereo, which quietly played upbeat instrumental music. Besides the desk and in front of the large board lay a large cat, his feet tucked underneath him and yellow fur gleaming proudly. Melon the Luxray was easy to spot by his proud golden coat, and despite his intimidating expression his body language spoke miles for the happy nature of the Pokemon. All in all, the room was warm and welcoming.
Deirdre had years of practice making sure her Pokemon were warm, happy, and cared for, and that practice showed in her classroom. Surely making students feel the same way couldn't be much different that what she was used to. Sitting at her desk, she nervously fidgeted with her papers, glad to have her calming Plum right next to her. Taking a sip from the coffee cup at her side (which depicted a cartoon Shinx hanging from a branch with "hang in there!" written above it), she looked down at her lesson plan. As long as she followed that, it would be fine.
The board on the front wall had lots of drawn designs around the edges, with the name "Ms. Deirdre Brennan" written on the top. Underneath it were brief instructions, "Find a seat and write your name on the card to help me learn it. Feel free to release any well mannered Pokemon, as long as they're not too large in stature."
Please refer to the guidelines for classes held by Deirdre Brennan here before posting!

Oleg rushed himself across the hallways, thankfully not knocking anyone over with his mass... Yet. He finally reached the classroom, panting heavily as he looked from the teacher onto the board, wiping sweat from his face as he proceeded to then just drag himself to the nearest desk next to the door, sitting on it. He then read the message over once more, before reaching for his belt, taking two of his pokeballs as he then released Hoare and Rinnie. Rinnie instantly flew to perch herself onto Oleg's head, letting out a happy coo. Meanwhile, Hoare spun himself around before pointing his nose staunchly towards the North, shaking from side to side slightly, the nose pokemon emitting a faint hum. He then wrote his name down onto the paper.

With Dušana trotting along by her side, Annie found her way to the room where the Breeding class was going to be held. She opened the door cautiously, unsure what to expect from this class.
What she saw on the other side nonetheless managed to surprise her. The room was decorated in such a way that it reminded her of her early childhood, when her teachers had habitually put up such cheerful decor in hopes of making the environment friendly to young children. It was a pleasant reminder, and Annie relaxed slightly on sheer instinct.
Also visible were a number of Pokémon, astonishingly beautiful ones, fully evolved and striking in power. A Rapidash was curled around a few Eggs--perhaps those were there to demonstrate matters related to breeding? A glorious golden Luxray--a shiny Luxray, wasn't it?--lounged beside the desk at which sat a blue-haired woman who was presumably the teacher. By her side was a little bundle of ribbons and big eyes: Sylveon. Were these the teacher's Pokémon? They would have to be, wouldn't they?
On the board were written a few simple words: "Ms. Deirdre Brennan," which must be the teacher's name, and directions to find a seat and make a namecard. Accordingly, Annie took a few steps in the direction of a seat, but then her eyes landed again on the most astonishing thing in the room, which she had almost but not quite neglected to notice while marveling at the Pokémon: an enormous blond-haired boy in Bolt Dorm colors who was breathing heavily and sweating hard. What, had he run here? Why would he do that? While Annie vaguely recalled seeing him before, she did not know his name and did not particularly care to ask. Instead, she proceeded to take a seat on the far side of the classroom, one of the middle rows, and with her Snorunt hopping cheerfully around her leg she wrote on a card, "Annie Prince."

Breeding was something that she was not familar with. It was like a void in her mind and the process of how pokemon are made was not something she had any clue about what she was doing. She was good at using pokemon, or she liked to believe she was good, not making pokemon.
That's probably why she was here, as she wondered into the classroom. It seemed at the moment that not as many students came to Breeding as the ones that came to Battle Tactics. Maybe she was a little early? She shrugged as she looked around to find a seat in the classroom.
So far, only two people were here. First was some big guy who had a Nosepass and Swablu. Then she saw Annie again with Spirit, her Snorunt. She made a straight beeline towards her, not perturbed by the somewhat icy reception that she received last time she saw her in class. Maybe she could make a better impression this time.
"Hey there Annie!" Tanya called out, waving at her as she moved to the desk to Annie's right. Walking down, she saw the many pokemon that the teacher had. Her eyes lit up with happiness as she looked at the beautiful Rapidash to the wonderful Sylveon. She let out an audible gasp as she saw the shiny Luxray and managed to reach the desk she was aiming for.
"Look at all the pokemon, isn't it amazing?" Tanya commented as she released her Skrelp and Buneary. Buneary sat on the floor and looked up expectantly at his trainer while Dani floated somewhat protectively between her trainer and Annie. Getting out her pen, she started writing out her name on the card given as she continued to talk to Annie.
"What region do you come from? I personally come from Hoenn, in Fallarbor Town. It's a pretty nice place and it's convenient for my mum, who works as a contest judge. What about your family?

The school had another class going on, so it would be interesting to learn about something else. Releasing Isabeau from her Pokeball, the female sword blinked expectedly and floated alongside her trainer. There was a sign next to the door that said "Breeding" No surprise there and as she entered the door, there were already some students attending and two girls chatting with one another. She sat down at a seat in the back where no one could bother her...except for the female sword. Isabeau blinked and looked around where there were different Pokemon inside the class and some of them were different types. Alice figured that the female sword must be curious about her surroundings as she was a recent capture. Besides, ghosts were probably lonely one way or another. She wasn't the social sort either, so she remained silent and waited for further instructions from the teacher. Actually, there were cards where the instructions said that a student needed to write down their name. She picked up a single card and wrote down her name. And waited silently again for the teacher to begin.

Battle Tactics, now for Breeding. One could never have one without the other apparently. Of course Kyrie's lack of knowledge in battle was deepened even more when it came to breeding. She knew absolute zip when it came to the mysteries of life. Especially pokemon life. They all came from eggs, that was the most she knew. Good thing there was a class on it then, huh?
Kyrie sighed, walking into the classroom. Her eyes scanned the area, noting the students who were already in there as well as their pokemon. Pokemon of whom she didn't know except for the rapidash in the back, a rapidash that was cuddling eggs. Why it was doing that, she had no idea. Maybe it liked oval things like chansey. There was also a luxray, her dad had one of those; but it's coat was the wrong color and finally last but not least a... pink espeon? It looked sort of like an espeon, it's ears were big and it's eyes had that same white pupil looking slit. Same size body too. Sort of.
She stared at the sylveon for the longest time, earning a paw in the face by Mammon who sat on her shoulder as he usually did. The espeon paid no mind to his fellow eevee evolution, nor any of the other pokemon. Kyrie recognized a face from the few number of attendees there were so far along with that creepy stalker rock and the familiar swablu. Other students had their pokemon out as well but she didn't know them and as so, the Mana girl didn't care about them. She didn't greet the one she did know, instead she switched her attention to the board. Pick a spot and label it. They were also allowed to have pokemon out in class, which was good since Mammon refused his ball.
Following the instructions, Kyrie pick a spot to the far right back. Mammon jumped down from his spot onto the desk, eyeing the rapidash behind them warily; while Kyrie pulled a pencil from her pocket to right down her full name on the given paper.

Post by Cameron Faulkner on Jun 26, 2014 1:21:23 GMT
So he had classes today, awesome, not really. As much as he loved his life so far as a student he knew classes were going to come up sooner or later. With a long sigh, he got prepared for the morning tightening his bandanna around his head and packing his bag with his school supplies. "Please, please, please, not tests or classwork, or homework." he prayed to whatever deity out there that listened. With slow steps he proceeded out of his dorm room and closed it behind him, regrettably heading towards the classrooms.
Fear gripped at his chest as reality began to set in. He was going to class. Classes where, no doubt everyone there was smarter than him in every way. Where he was going to be called on to answer questions where he would need to answer them correctly, and if he didn't would face the ridicule of his fellow classmates. He clutched at his head, just thinking about it was pissing him off! "Okay, okay, calm down Cameron. Your just starting out, all you gotta do is ask for help, yeah?" he tried to cheer himself up.
"No doubt once they see how hard you've worked on your body they'll no doubt take you up on your offer." he perked up at his own thought. "Oh, Mister Faulkner! Who knew you had such an amazing figure! they'll say." he said, being lost in his own floating fantasies. "And you'll say, don't worry, for I can show you the ways of muscle as well! Just do all of my homework and tests! Yes, they can't possibly argue against that!" still lost, somewhere inside he knew full well that he was just dreaming of this and that there was no way that it would possibly happen. Even that part of him was trying to believe this ridiculous fantasy.
"Yes, it's fullproof!" He remarked with a full head over his ridiculous plan. Though it did work in cheering him up. He was about to do something either incredibly impressive or stupid. When he got to the Class wing of the main building he found his class and with a smile sat at the first seat he saw in the back of the classroom. "So I just have to write my name huh?" he thought as he read the instructions on the board. He then fished for a pen in his bag and quickly printed his name on the piece of paper in front of him. 'Cameron Faulkner'

Post by Seria Floria on Jun 26, 2014 1:59:41 GMT
Seria found out there was another class, this turned out to be "Pokemon Breeding 101." She made her way to the appropriate classroom and was surprised to see that the atmosphere of the room was very calming and soothing for Seria. There was a large Rapidash in the back of the room, coddling three eggs. Seria blinked before looking around further, seeing cute posters and other such decorations. The next big observations were the Luxray and the Sylveon, both which seemed to add to the welcoming and warm atmosphere. Seria smiled and brought out a Pokeball, releasing her latest catch, her Purrloin - Severa. She was a bit of an aggressive nutter, but only because she liked the attention she got from Seria afterwards. Seria gently held Severa in her arms like a baby as she found herself taking a seat.
The board had the name of the teacher - Ms. Deirdre Brennan, and there were some brief instructions. Seria gave Severa a bit of petting and stroking, setting her on the table for a moment to neatly write her name on the card provided there. 'Seria Floria' she wrote, as Seria then returned to giving Severa cuddles.

Post by Sonia Strugatskaya on Jun 26, 2014 2:28:09 GMT
It was finally time for Sonia's second class at the academy. This time it was a side-step from actual trainer battles. Instead? It was time to learn about Pokemon breeding. It was a subject that the girl honestly had a good deal of knowledge on. And thanks to a bit of recent experience? She now possessed eggs of her own to take care off. In fact, she had two of them currently in her possession as she walked to class. Of course, they were safely nestled in the girl's bag for safe keeping. The walk to class was short and generally quicker than when she tried finding the Battle Tactics class.
Peering into the classroom, she noted several students already seated. As she entered, she took a brief look around the room and noted the various Pokemon as well as a few eggs. Finally, she saw whom she only assumed to be the teacher. As she took a seat, she took note of the instructions on the board. Looking down at the desk she took the sheet that was laying on it and wrote her name on it. Then, pondering over the other set of instructions, she had a brilliant idea.
The girl pulled out one of her Pokeballs, releasing her Growlithe off to the side of her. The dog Pokemon looked around curiously before looking back at its trainer. Dasha. Here. Patting her lap, the small dog Pokemon hopped up onto her where it was then cuddled intensely. Sonia smiled happily as she nuzzled herself into the Pokemon's fur. It was quite warm, being a fire type of course. And so, the girl sat in her seat with her Pokemon, slowly dozing off from how comfortable it was. If class wasn't starting soon, she may just fall asleep from the comfort. Growlithe and Kangaskhan eggs +1

Post by Astrid Sherinian on Jun 26, 2014 3:42:06 GMT
Breeding class, was it? Astrid very nearly didn't show up for it due to having long since been fed up with one of her online friends' constant rambling posts about selective breeding and how good at it he was. If that was what she was getting into, then she wanted no part of it. But, after some assurance that no, the class would be just as much about raising Pokemon as breeding and hatching them, she decided to give it a try. So here she was, wandering into the classroom after a few other students had showed up and taking a look around the room.
She quickly spotted Tanya, the girl she'd battled with awhile back and made fast friends with, then went over to sit next to her. Seeing that Tanya was talking in her usual fast pace to a girl on the other side of her, Astrid just gave a simple "Hey Tanya," before taking her seat. She glanced up at the board, then down at the sheet on her desk. Easy enough. She wrote her full name, 'Astrid Sherinian' on it, then pushed it to the corner of her desk.
And finally, she pulled out one of her pokeballs and released Lunatic onto her desk. The Clefairy took a seat, looking around the room with an over-the-top innocent expression. "Behave yourself, now," Astrid warned.

Post by Adolfina von Brauer on Jun 26, 2014 17:57:34 GMT
Adolfina wasn't entirely oblivious to the benefits and challenges of breeding Pokemon, considering that she had already bred to of her own, to begin with. On the other hand, the girl was fairly certain that there was a very obvious lack of knowledge in her head regarding the finer details of getting some of these things together. She needed to breed her Pokemon to increase their numbers, yes. However, she also needed to do so for the sake of ease of collection. Getting the most possible knowledge she could on the subject was going to be the best way to do so. How better than to attend a class for it? After getting to the door, casually, as opposed to the violent assault she had performed on the door to the Battle Tactics class. Why? She was a bit more serious than before. She had a defined goal that was fueling other endeavors. This was important.
A quick flutter of gold, and the girl scanned the room. A woman, clearly the teacher, was there. Numerous people, all bland. Several Pokemon were also out, but it was fairly easy to tell exactly which ones belonged to the teacher. They were more impressive, after all. Notes on the board gave the woman's name, as well as instructions. The girl calmly headed towards the seat closest to the teacher's desk that was still free, took a seat, and addressed the naming card. Something like that was childish, but it would save time on introductions, she figured. She, carefully and clearly, put down her name on the card. It was well-scribed, if she were to say so herself. She then processed the deal regarding letting a Pokemon out. Well, if it was allowed, then it would be best to flaunt her progress, she decided. Releasing her Whimsicott, Diablo, the blonde watched as the Pokemon claimed a spot in her lap before sending attentive gazes in every which direction. She was curious, it seemed, but she knew better than to act without Adolfina's command.

Post by Crispin Yates on Jun 27, 2014 5:45:19 GMT
Determined to not be late for another class, Crispin made darn well sure to get to get his butt in gear and get to this class on time. Even if he had very little interest in breeding anything, ever, there was something else important he hoped to get from this class. The brochure mentioned it, however brief, after all. As much as he loved his Pokemon, he just couldn't find the right balance between training and care. Either he worked them too hard and they grew tired for it, as was the case for his Abra back home, or not hard enough and they grew too soft. He hoped if nothing else that between the two classes he could figure out what exactly he was doing wrong.
He felt like he was finally figuring out the lay of the school. At the very least he managed to find the class where Pokemon Breeding 101 was held so hey, that was a start. Walking in he quickly found he wasn't one of the first, not by a long run. There were quite a few he vaguely remembered seeing from the other class, as well as two dressed in his own dorm colors. They were easily drowned out by the sea of other colors though, but he tried not to think of that too much. Taking a moment to study the room, he couldn't help but smile a little at the music. He hadn't expected that here, and whatever it was playing had a nice beat.
The person he assumed had to be the teacher sat behind the large desk, a Sylveon perched on top like a little furry gargoyle. He had only ever seen that evolution of Eevee once before, and even then it was only briefly. What he hadn't seen before was the Pokemon next to the desk─not one that looked like that, anyway. He had seen plenty of Luxrays before, but they had all been blue. Not once had he seen one with gold fur before. Blinking in surprise, he nodded to himself. That had to be a good sign, right? Despite all the... really goofy looking things hanging around the room (honestly, what were some of those things?), judging by the Pokemon in the room that belonged to her it looked like she knew what she was doing.
Now, could she actually extend that knowledge was the question. On his way back to pick a seat he took a closer look at the Rapidash at the back, noticing the eggs next to him. He raised an eyebrow, a little curious at it. They were most definitely not Ponyta eggs, and yet he sat with them as if they most certainly were. It was odd, but again, there had to have been a reason for it. Crispin was beginning to feel more and more in the dark about things, and he didn't like it one bit. Settling into his seat, he studied the board. Brennan, was it? Easy enough to remember, hopefully. Focusing on the card on his desk, he struggled to make his name as legible as possible─Crispin Yates. It looked almost like a preschooler had written it, but it was just manageably legible.
It would have to do. Turning it back forward, he reached to his belt to release Cecillia, the little pink brat hopping into his lap almost instantly. Jove was already sitting in his hair, and had been since... well, since he got the little guy. He was terrified to think about what would happen when he evolved.

Post by Deirdre Brennan on Jun 27, 2014 19:24:18 GMT
It seemed as though the majority of her students managed to find their way here. That was good, at the very least. Though it was the first day, so it would make sense for there to be some stragglers later on. Most settled right in, and made it easy for her to check off the names as she saw them on the cards. She was glad they all followed that simple direction, at least. It meant she wouldn’t have to fumble for their names, or worry about calling them out individually for roll. Now, as long as she could memorize them before they got any funny ideas to swap names in future classes she would be set.
The class definitely seemed to be a motley crew at the very least. One seemed in such a rush to make his way here he had… run, the entire way. That was a good sign, right? Not long after him the rest pooled their way inside. One after the next they looked through her room, with varying expressions of warmth, to dissatisfaction, to apparent apathy. She supposed it could have been worse. It wasn’t like she would change the room’s setting, though; it was as much for the Pokemon as it was herself and the students, after all. The musical music was Melon’s favorite, and Plum was fond of the bright colors herself. If the student’s Pokemon like it as well, then all the better.
While they found their seats, it was easy to see Melon gained the most attention. He ate every bit of it up, of course. As though he needed any more of an ego boost. The golden lion fluffed his fur proudly, and Deirdre shook her head. What a ham. Quince ignored the students for the most part, though he had the glint in his eye that made her keep a watch on him. Even when he was watching eggs, she knew he could be a little brat if he wanted to be.
Time went by, and she saw more and more Pokemon fill the room. Her smile widened as they did, although two of the students left theirs in their Pokeballs. It was possible they just didn’t trust their Pokemon to behave enough in class, or they were too big, but it still left Deirdre curious. Perhaps she would ask them who they had, later. For now, she pushed herself to her feet a little roughly, obviously trying to avoid putting much weight on her right leg. Her pant leg covered why, but it was plain to see she favored walking on it as she moved to the middle of the room.
Smiling softly, she spoke loudly to get the classes attention. “Hello, class!” she paused, giving them time to quiet their conversations and turn towards the front of the room. “As I’m sure you’ve gathered, my name is Deirdre Brennan. Ms. Brennan or Ms. D is fine, I’m not overly picky about titles. Melon is the Luxray currently soaking in all of the attention he can get─trust me, his head is big enough as it is, he doesn’t need any more inflation. The little desk guardian there is Plum. You may see her assisting me in walking the room, making sure everything is running smoothly, but don’t mind her. Finally, in the back is Quince with three of our eggs, one of which belongs specifically to Melon and Plum.”
The teacher hesitated for a moment, cocking her head. “Can anyone tell me why I have Quince taking care of the three eggs, when none of them actually belong to him? Don’t be shy. And don’t be embarrassed if you don’t know either, after all you’re here to learn all of that for a reason.” The Rapidash huffed loudly as his name was mentioned, tapping a hoof on the floor to bring attention to himself. There were a few possible answers, and while there was only one specific cause there were other explanations that could be given as well.
Deirdre felt it was a good way to introduce the class. Nothing too overbearing, to give time for possible stragglers, yet should be an easy observation for those with a keen eye. Kind smile still on her face, she folded her hands in front of her while she waited for the students to decide on their answer.

Oleg huffed and puffed for a while, but his mind worked behind his tired shell. He then spoke after taking a long breath. "Well... Well, from what I've understood, warmth is good for eggs, yes? That's why birds sit on their eggs, to warm them up for their hatching at some point, and I'd say those flames on your rapidash should be warm enough for that kind of a job."
Oleg then held his chest slightly. It stinged a bit, but he was used to it stinging due to his bad physical condition. He then looked around slightly, Rinnie still sitting on his head and now seemingly sleeping, with Hoare still spinning in place from time to time and still pointing towards north.

"Hey Astrid!" Tanya called out, giving her a quick wave and smiling at her. While more students did come into the class, there weren't as many students who came to this than ones who went to Battle Tactics. She could understand why people might not want to come to breeding lessons. However, Tanya wanted to learn as much as she could while she was still here in order to make the most out of the opportunity. She was discouraged to know that others didn't want to take the opportunity.
When she saw the teacher moving, she immediately moved her attention towards her. She noticed that the teacher seemed to favor her right leg over her left. Had something happened to her? Before she could think about possible reasons why that had occurred though, the she had started the class, causing her to put that question behind for later.
When she was introducing all of her pokemon, Tanya had her notebook out and was making little notes to make sure she didn't lose track of all the different names. While it probably wasn't going to help out in a test, it was more of a personal reminder for her should she reference any of the pokemon in the room. Judging from the atmosphere and the number that were out, she reckoned that could be important in the long run.
At the question she asked, Tanya elected to stay silent, having her pen at the ready to write as many notes as she possibly could. She didn't have the faintest clue how breeding worked. It was like a magical thing that just sorta happened and she knew nothing. She would let the other classmates answer as she tried not to stand out too much.
