"Slateport City is quite a nice city. As to where I came from, I'm from Ecruteak City which is in Johto. I guess that's where the mythology of the legendary beasts came to be are all the rage there too. Plus, the legend of the rainbow bird and the beast of the sea is pretty popular in this city." So, Slateport City, huh? That was in the Hoenn region and where some Wingulls were known to flock there too, given that it was a coastal city. She might travel to Hoenn someday to go sightseeing and admire all those strange new Pokemon. Ecruteak was beautiful in its own right as there was the Kimono Theater and the Bell Chime Tower. Hoenn probably had some interesting landmarks of its own and she had heard some rumors of there being Pokemon that she never seen before.

"Well, it's been said that the Brass Tower had been destroyed in a mysterious fire. Three Pokemon died in it, but a rainbow bird managed to resurrect them based on how the tower was burned down. First, a lightning storm struck the tower, then a fire broke out and burned it down. Lastly, the winds and rain poured down and put out the fire, thus the legendary beasts were born as Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. At least, that's how I know how it goes." Well, he seemed to be quite curious about the legend itself, so hopefully that explanation would be able to clarify that. Isabeau was silently listening to her explanation with a curious look as she had never heard of such tales before. Actually, she had heard rumors that there were legends of the two opposing forces of weather in Hoenn, though she had not lived there herself.

"Let's see... From what I recall, the rainbow bird was Ho-Oh and it had once perched atop the Bell Tower until the Brass Tower burned down. I'm actually hoping that I can see it someday if it comes back." From what little information about the legendary bird could be gathered, it had apparently had the ability to grant healing powers or something. Maybe that goal was a bit too far-fetched, but it was a good one even for trainers who weren't trying to see an elusive legendary. And apparently, those legendary beasts were also running across the region in search of something. Or someone. Maybe someone who was able to tame them. Nobody was able to catch a legendary so far, given that they were quite elusive. And the consequences were dire for that as the entire world might break if they were captive inside a Pokeball.

"I came here when I saw some ace trainers in Ecruteak battling and thought how it would be like if I trained some Pokemon. I might be a Ghost type specialist someday if I learn some of the things here in school." While those ace trainers back home were probably skilled trainers, she had hoped to surpass them in strength. Strength wasn't about everything as friendships were important too. Some trainers who had came to her city were haughty and thought that they would be able to beat those strong trainers. So, he had told her that he wanted to learn and have a little freedom from his home. Was there something bad that happened to be his reason of attending the academy? He probably didn't want to talk about that. So far, his reasons seemed to be interesting enough as every trainer wanted to learn at this academy.

"I do believe that I wanted to participate in Pokemon Contests one day to see how those contests work. Travel around different regions and learn all I can about the different legends that go along there. There seems to be some lore regarding one of the Legendaries in each region." Pokemon Contests were in Hoenn, so she might start as a Pokemon Coordinator. That was a good goal along with being a specialist for Ghost types and it could help her learn about the Hoenn region. Since William lived there, he might have some valuable information for those who were interested in this. Different regions might have different lore surrounding their legends, so there was a need to study them. The most interesting ones were the legends of the legendary beasts from her region and the lore about the legendary avian Ho-Oh.

"Honestly, I never heard of the legends in Hoenn, but you can share what you know with me. I'd love to hear it." The legends were probably different than those from her region. Perhaps, the legend had a creation story of some sort where resurrection had brought some Pokemon back to life. She knew that there were legendary Pokemon out there that could grant life whenever the human or Pokemon so desired. Actually, there was one elusive Pokemon in her region that could travel through time, although information was little. Her father had told her stories about the Brass Tower and its occupants though there was little information about them, other than the fact that those legendary beasts roam the entire region. Not too many people had known that there could be wild legendary Pokemon in the tall grass somewhere and those beasts were like leaves in the wind where they fled upon being sighted.

"That's interesting. Rayquaza seems to be like a peace meditator to Groudon and Kyogre. And I think the Hoenn region might be a nice place to live in." So, the weather trio had been in conflicts ages past, but it seemed as if Rayquaza stopped those two from fighting. The sea wasn't probably a good place to be in if there was a Pokemon like Kyogre around. Actually, she doubted that either Kyogre or Groudon would actually wake up anytime soon, so there was no worrying to be done. Maybe there was another region that had two Pokemon fighting over something and a third to break up the fight. "So, is there any other Legendaries in your region that have any lore to begin with?" If the Hoenn region had titanic clashes like these, maybe there were more stories of different legendary Pokemon out there.

"I guess I was asking if there was lore behind the creation of the legendary Pokemon." Well, he was certainly confused that the question was rather vague. Maybe somewhere in another region, there seemed to be another trio of titanic monsters who aided in the creation of some of the main elements. Perhaps, there might be a godly being that could grant whatever wish the human or Pokemon desired. And some lore depicting titanic clashes between the two opposing forces had been in the stories passed down by any generation that the person happened to be in. She assumed that there were more legendary Pokemon in each region other than the main trio, but their names remained unknown until she at least knew them from another source. Maybe someone else knew of these creation trios from another region other than Hoenn or Johto.

"I see. I might find a book that can answer that question, thank you. I am curious if there are any trios other than the Weather trio in your region." There was not a single record of something being created in the Hoenn region, but there might be something else in another region. Perhaps, there was a creation story in that mountainous region she heard about. Some book had talked about a mountain called Mount Coronet, but there was no record of any legendary Pokemon anywhere. Maybe those Legendaries were elusive to the public eye and the people that lived in that region never saw a thing. Well, no one had ever seen Lugia either since it was sleeping at the bottom of the sea and if it did come out, storms would gather. Same with the other titanic Legendaries, but it could be assumed that they were slumbering in their respective homes too.

"The Eon duo sounds interesting. I never seen them before, but I hear that they're elusive. Actually, I do recall a legendary Pokemon that's known as the Pokemon that travels through time called Celebi. It lives in a forest and appears when there is peace." If she remembered correctly, Latios was the blue bird-dragon and Latias was the red bird-dragon. Those two were the most interesting to hear about, apparently they were intelligent and able to communicate telepathically like all Psychic type Pokemon. She read somewhere that Celebi was the same and that it was able to bring life back to the forest if the forest withered. Some people would love to get ahold of a legendary Pokemon like that, but it was just too difficult, plus the consequences that could come while capturing it. It was best to leave it alone when it was protecting some place too. She figured that the Eon duo was not known like the Weather Trio, but they could have their own lore.

"Yes, I did mention that. Since you're from Hoenn, I think it'll be better if you explain how contests work." And now, the conversation shifted to another subject and it was clear that he didn't know how to keep the legendary subject going. That's okay. As long as the subject gets interesting, those little tidbits might be able to help learn about certain folklore of other prominent Legendaries. She did know that contests were somewhat like Pokemon battles, though they operated on a different set of rules. She was used to Pokemon battles in her region and there were tough trainers back home. Not only did she desired to be a Ghost type specialist of sorts, she wanted to learn more about the different legends of each region. Kanto should be a good place to start and there were some Pokemon there that she hadn't seen before.

"That sounds fun. I think I can use my Pokemon for appeal to the judges. Make their moves flashy, so that they get well-liked. Just one question though. Are contestants allowed to use a combination of moves for appeal?" It seemed that contests were actually shown live on television and this was one of those times where she had never seen a battle on television. However, his explanation did make sense as the Pokemon participating in a contest must do appealing moves for the judges. And there were contest battles there and those trainers have to show appeal in fighting against the opponent. She remembered reading that contests had five categories and that each Pokemon had to have moves that fit the category that the theme represented. Sounds easy and then, there were the moves where they had different effects in a contest. Maybe it was kind of like a fashion show, but with Pokemon showing off their moves.

"Well, that's a good thing that some contest halls allow you to do that though it might be considered an unfair advantage. What kind of categories do contests have?" The contest hall was surprisingly lenient about it though some places allow combinations of attack to be used for appeal. Maybe when Henry evolved into Chandelure, she might enter him into a contest though she wasn't sure what category he had moves that were best for. And some of her Pokemon could be entered when they evolved into their final forms except for the Pokemon that couldn't evolve. The only thing that she had to learn while participating in a contest was contest battles where trainers had to battle it out while showing appeal. She did get the battle part down as she had practiced, but the appeal part was something she had to work on. Studying on appeals in the library might get a good idea on how to use moves for appeal worked. She got up from her chair and returned the book on ghosts where it was and skimmed the aisles for a book on contests. A few minutes later, she had found a book on contests and sat back down in her chair where Isabeau blinked curiously at the book. She began to read a few pages while waiting for a response.

"I think I was asking about if they had a different category for each appealing aspect like how cool or cute the Pokemon might be." Well, that seemed to confuse William further, but she was curious about that subject. She continued to read more on the subject where there were actual accounts of people participating in contests with their Pokemon. That and her Pokemon could always get some good experience with doing contest battles with anyone that participated in a contest. Besides, contest battles operated on a different scale and the judges would love her Pokemon's appeal. She continued to read where the information had described what type of appeal that the judges look for such as if the Pokemon was cute or the moves that it uses were cool. And that contests were not only performed in the Hoenn region, but also in the Sinnoh region.

"Well, I guess this book might have the answers to those questions. So, what kind of Pokemon live in the Hoenn region? I've been curious about that." After having asked that, she turned back to her book where some of the information had the answer to her previous question. There were actually five categories and each of them depended on the coolness, smartness, beauty, cuteness, or toughness of the Pokemon. And the judges were the ones that decided if the Pokemon that used those attacks for appeal could move on into the next round. The floating sword read along with her as she continued to read about what goes on in the primary judging round. The book described that there were four Pokemon that were judged based on their condition and the audience takes a vote to decide if they liked it or not. She could actually mentally picture herself as a Pokemon Coordinator using her Pokemon for the appeal round. And the book had everything covered for learning about those contests.
