The cold embrace of winter was something that Adolfina was more than used to. For her, the cool air of the forest was nothing to worry about. The only things that could have bothered her, in the long run, were the things she encountered. However, there were two balls in her waist pouch that contained special creatures. Those creatures would make short work of anything that bothered her. They were new to her, and she was new to them, but they'd form a bond- a proper bond. She was going to become strong. They would become strong with her. The haughty little blonde had no doubts. She was not lacking confidence. Even if they had just met, even if there was no evidence to it, she knew they could be trusted. After all, they were her Pokemon.
They could not be weak.
She was hunting- for fights, for prospective additions to her team- in those woods. With time, something would come. For the weak, there was strength in numbers. And when that number grew and the individual strength grew, the result was a fine little army.

The little blonde proceeded forward. Her forest frolicking went on without cause for alarm for a great while. And then it happened. This wasn't a case of just encountering some random hazard, no. Nope, this was something special. A little Snivy had appeared. Now, despite being a wild Pokemon, and therefore a danger on its own, there was something much more noteworthy about it that made Adolfina stop in her tracks and fixate it with her eyes. That little, grassy snake had a certain air that resonated with the girl. It was haughty. It thought highly of itself. When their eyes met, the girl could clearly see the spark in the Pokemon's eyes. They were alike. With a slowly-growing smile, the girl reached into her waist sack, gripped a ball, and then launched it to the ground in front of the Pokemon. Limos, her Trapinch, materialized, opening her great maw a couple of times before observing the surroundings.
Trapinch may have lost in a type-matchup, but it had alternative attacks, and the raw power, to be of use here. While the blonde had every bit of faith in both of her Pokemon, the fact still stood that Diablo only had offensive Grass moves, so, even in the best case, there would be a very slow progression. With Limos, there was at least the chance of doing the Snivy in quickly and efficiently, without too much of a threat from the opponent. Even if the girl was just an upstart, she at least knew the basics. A wild Pokemon would never defeat her!
Battle Start!
”Limos, use Crunch!” The girl demanded, and the Pokemon responded in will. The Trapinch opened her massive void wide and stepped forward, chomping the Snivy without hesitation or worry. The attack connected, and the Snivy wriggled in what seemed to be pain, but that wasn't the end of it. Upon slipping free of the massive jaws of destruction, the Snivy coiled around the Trapinch's neck, tightly wringing it. Limos slammed onto her side, awkwardly flailing her little legs while trying to knock the attacker off. The attack was strong. No, rather, because Limos was in good shape, the attack was strong. Either way, the attacker pulled away, and Limos still managed to stand.
”Again, use Crunch!” The Trapinch shook herself off and steadied her footing. Then, opening her maw, she charged forward and chomped the Snivy for a second time. It even seemed that its defenses dropped a bit, even after sliding free from the teeth. Seemingly angry, the Snivy twirled and slung its tail at the Trapinch! . . . with horrible precision, as the Snivy was off completely and simply left itself open. It had strength, Adolfina decided, but it lacked the proper guidance to utilize it. In other words, it would be her duty to help it refine its technique. That was fine. She'd make it shine.
”Limos, use Superpower!” The attack was saved for last for a good reason. It was powerful, sure, but it had drawbacks. It was best to use it for a “finishing move” than an opener. The Trapinch charged forward before jumping surprisingly high, considering her tiny legs, and using the combination of gravity and her neck muscles to slam her head down, like a hammer, on the Snivy. She squished it like a bug, put simply, even if there was no actual “squishing”. As the Trapinch stepped away from her victim, Adolfina stepped forward. The Snivy was out cold. This was the beginning of something good, and this first battle went well enough.
Reaching inside her waist pouch one more time, the blonde retrieved an empty ball and lobbed it at the Snivy.

As the ball clicked, Adolfina smiled. It was a victory. With a haughty chuckle, the girl retrieved the ball and put it away in the pouch. The new Snivy would be healed upon their return home. Of course, some training would likely be necessary to break the new addition in, but that was how things played out sometimes. It wouldn't hurt, overall, anyway. It was a good way to share mutual understanding! Well, that was the concept of what the blonde was thinking. Naturally, her thoughts weren't quite that refined. Either way, she smiled down to Limos.
”Very good. We won. Take a break. You did well.” She giggled after returning the Trapinch to her ball. Things would start slowly, certainly, but they would progress nonetheless. When she returned home, her father, and everyone else, would praise her. She puffed her chest out with pride as she strode on back towards the dorm.
