Entering the field, the man stood and faced his class again. The field behind him was set up so that dodgeball could be played effectively. Now then. I've gone ahead and broken you up into two teams ahead of time. And yes, I was serious about the dodgeball. This will help you get a little exercise as well as improve your reflexes a bit. It also doubles as a good bit of fun to keep you kids interested. What good is a class if it's boring you to death, after all? Anyway, you and your Pokemon of choice will be teaming up with the others to take down the enemy. . . .Oh. Almost forgot. Winning team gets a bonus. Go crazy. The man smirked before listing off each of the teams and explaining the rules to everyone. Afterwards, the man simply left and let the kids handle it all from there.
Team 1 Sonia Benji Oleg James Amanda Cameron Alice Adolfina
Team 2 Seria Tanya Richard William Annie Meili Crispin Astrid
How to Play!
During the dodgeball match, students will be able to make one move every turn. Each dodgeball round will be one day as opposed to the two days from classes. Each round's end will be signaled with the teacher's post which will detail who is "out" as well as who is left on each team.
In each character's post, the student will chose a move to act out for that round. This could involve trying to hit someone with a ball, playing it safe, or defending another player. Each move has its own "dodge rate" which will determine the chance of dodging a ball hitting someone, and a "catch rate" which determines the chance of catching a ball thrown at you. Should a ball be caught, the one throwing the ball is out, the one who caught it is safe, and the catcher's side will be able to bring back a student that was "out." Any moves that involve throwing a ball will also have a "hit rate" which will determine whether or not the ball will even hit its target (Think "accuracy" for a Pokemon attack). Each of these rolls is a -separate roll- in order to determine what happens in each instance of a ball being thrown. For simplicity, the only rolls that the students will need to roll themselves will be the hit rolls. The teacher's post will display the results of each round after he has rolled them accordingly to avoid unnecessary confusion.
Note: You need to specify your target if you are throwing a ball!
They choices of moves made each have their own benefits and downfalls. The move choices are: Fast throw, safe throw, avoid, defend, and genuflect. Below explains what each of these moves do.
Fast Throw: The student pegs an enemy student with a fast ball. This ball is harder to catch than normal, but also leaves the thrower open. Hit Rate: 95% (1-19 hit; D20) Dodge Rate: 40% Catch Rate: 0% Extra: Enemy's Catch rate is halved in favor of being hit.
Safe Throw: Student throws a ball at an enemy student while trying to stay safe. This ball is easier to catch or dodge, but allows the student more of a chance to dodge and catch in return. Hit Rate: 70% (1-7 hit; D10) Dodge Rate: 60% Catch Rate: 5%
Avoid: The student opts to not throw any balls and instead plays it safe. Dodge Rate: 90% Catch Rate: 10%
Defend: The student opts to protect a teammate to prevent them from being hit to the best of their ability by blocking hits for them. Dodge Rate: 70% Catch Rate: 5% Extra: Boosts the target ally's dodge rate by an additional 30%. (Caps at 95%)
Genuflect: Give in to your inevitable fate. Not suggested. Dodge Rate: 10% Catch Rate: 0% Extra: This student may roll a D100. Should a 1 be rolled, all students on that team come back "in."
With the students now on their respective sides, Alvis blew his whistle, signalling the start of the match. Now, get out there and show me what you got!

Tanya felt a sort of nervous excitement as she got ready to play dodgeball. There was an air of nervous competition as she got ready to play dodgeball. She didn't know what to expect and she didn't know how good the others were at dodgeball. Whatever she did though, she was ready to play hard. Looking at the other team, Cameron stuck out as one of the main targets, but it didn't help that the small girls were in the other team, probably making them harder to hit.
At the sound of the whistle, Tanya ran for a ball and picked one up. With Nicola flying safely high above the dodgeball arena, Tanya looked at all the other opponents. Not wanting to get herself knocked out immediately, Tanya decided to play it safe when she threw the ball at one of the opponents, hoping to catch one of them off guard.
Action: Tanya throws a Safe Throw at Adolfina!

Awh crap. Dodgeball. Oleg despised the game, and he had wished that they would never, EVER, touch it here at the academy. Oh well, at the very least this time it was someone else than the dreaded balls thrower as his opponent this time. He mapped out his opponents, considering who to throw at. He didn't really see any major targets, simply shrugging.
As the whistle blew, Waspinator instantly flew to one of the balls, grabbing it to her small feet and flying it to Oleg, who took it before winding his hand back, deciding to go all in as he then threw the ball as hard and fast as he could.
Action: Oleg throws a fast throw at Seria!

The first lesson had started and it was a game that she kind of knew from her childhood. Dodgeball was a dangerous sport, but that was what made it very fun. It made her think that maybe she should just enjoy this round and her teammate already had the first move, throwing a ball at one of the opponents. The whistle had blown which meant that the game itself had started and the other team was itching to start too, making a safe throw at one of the opponents. It was decided that she went for the offensive approach as Missy approached a ball and used her telekinetic powers to pick it up. She floated near her trainer and dropped it in her trainer's hands which prompted Alice to do a safe throw at one of the opponents.
Action: Used a Safe Throw at Annie

James grinned at what the teacher had said about Rampy clapping, and the part where he told a student to defend himself against Rampy with a rock. It was very funny really, and James thought that classes with with Alvis were going to be a blast if they went as well as the beginning of Gym so far. Once that grin faded however it was time for Dodgeball, which was a game he was fond of. Moving with the rest of the class and following the teacher he made his way into the field, before they came to a halt. Alvis gave a small introduction to what all the students would be doing, along with the rules and such of the game.
Once split into teams James noted that there was a giant of sorts on his team, and a midget of sorts on his team. Well, his team definitely varied in height, which could be an advantage? Hopefully it would help, and then he had the muscular guy. Well, it seemed so far that their team would have everything in the bag with him on the team. That is unless he breaks some rule for whipping a ball at a Kid's face, which hopefully wouldn't happen. Pushing his thoughts about the team James got ready for when the whistle blew. When he heard the sound of the whistle blow he ran to grab a ball. Once the ball was within his grasp he looked around for someone to hit. With Lucifer violently motioning to throw the ball now so they didn't get out James simply threw the ball as hard as he could, which wasn't very hard, at some random student.

Ah the great sport of Dodgeball. Cameron wasn't expecting this, nope, not one bit. He thought there was gonna be something like running on the track, push-up, sit-ups. Small workouts for Coach to gauge everyone. "This works." he commented, wearing his usual grin. Thankfully he had a pretty decent team, and by that he meant he had Sonia on his team, double the muscle. Everyone else he just didn't know, didn't have a high expectation, or just didn't care to remember who they were. Looking at the other team, there wasn't anyone who seemed to pose any threat, but he had to remain alert to his surroundings, there could be a ball coming straight at him if he spent too much time on strategics. In any case, Cameron felt it was high time to start knocking them out, one by one. He picked up a shining rubber ball, and tossed it across the field with some force. "Here's a fast one!" he shouted as the ball left his grip. Fast Throw to Seria ROp1b5og1-20 20 misses.1-20

Oh boy, this should be fun. He had never played the game before, but it seemed easy enough to pick up. As soon as the whistle blew, Cecillia dashed towards one of the balls and headbutted it towards her trainer. Crispin took little time in scooping it up, turning towards the other team. He didn't recognize anyone immediately, although he did know at least a couple people on his own team. Still, standing around doing nothing wasn't going to help his team win. Pulling his arm back he steadied a shot at the first person on the other team he saw, hurling the ball as best he could while still maintaining a moderately decent defense.

Benji tried to stifle a laugh as Alvis scolded the student with the 'egg issue'. Though his smirk soon vanished as the conversation turned to him. He stepped back as a stick was thrown at his feet and he looked up with a glare at the teacher. Though he kept his mouth shut not wanting this guy to blow up on him like he had the girl. He'd just have to carefully think about next time he answered a question...perhaps being smarter about it. Though this didn't make him dislike the teacher, in fact he kind of liked him. Shrugging he followed the students as they went to play a game of dodgeball. It wasn't his favorite game, yet he had been pretty good at it in the past. Being quite slim, he was rather fast and agile. While not the strongest thrower he knew he would have a better chance trying to catch or avoid, or perhaps even defending someone else. Plus they had Cameron on their team, while he was a big target he was probably the strongest guy on the team...which could come in handy. When the whistle blew Benji shot forward quickly, but before he could grab a ball he noticed another student getting ready to throw one right at him. His Charmander rushed forward trying to act as a distraction but it was no use and the ball was hurled straight at the Mana student. Not having much time to think, he opted out of trying to catch it and quickly tried to roll out of the way. Hopefully his speed would pay off and the ball would miss him. If it did, he knew who he was going after next.
Action: Tried to Avoid Crispin's throw.

Dodgeball. Annie had no particular love for the game, but--given how unlikely it was that they would play the game she did love in a class like this--she found this to be acceptably close. It was all about speed, aim, and turning the opponents' balls back against them, right? Not an unfamiliar prospect.
Annie's enthusiasm for the game was far overmatched by her Snover's. Tomislav seemed to think that this was the coolest new adventure ever, and his Trainer couldn't help but enjoy it all the more because of that.
A ball went flying, hard and fast, towards the muscular Fire Dorm boy on the other team, and Annie laughed.
Annie used Fast Throw on Cameron! If 1-19, hit. If 20, miss. TqWk1w6E1-201-20

When he heard the word "dodge ball", he wanted to groan but knew better than to do that. He didn't hate dodg eball, he just wasn't very good at it. He was usually the first to get "out" whether it was because someone caught a ball he threw or he, trying to catch an incoming ball, would have it slip out of his hands causing him to be out. Liara noticed his slight agitation and tried to cheer him up by rubbing against his legs. He pet her for a bit, then went to the side where his team was supposed to be.
When it started, he went to grab one of the balls, but decided against it when he realized a few people form the other team were faster than he was. He ran backwards a bit to get more space between him and the other team; the farther away he was, the harder it'd be to hit him, right? He saw someone throwing a ball in his direction and decided to Avoid it.

Just dodging things was simple enough, Adolfina figured. After all, all she had to do was move. Plus, if she kept dodging the opposing team's balls, they'd gradually stockpile on her side and she could leisurely assault the other team, even if her own had, in fact, been decimated. Sometimes, the best offensive was a good defensive. Others, the best defensive was a good offensive. The two played, hand-in-hand, so the best way to go about this game was to combine the two and utilize them in phases. Therefore, still sitting atop the nameless Shelgon, the blonde just rode into the game. Eventually, she slid off the side, using the dragon as a hard shield.
Nothing would penetrate her defenses. Action: Avoidesu.

Wow, first lesson and there was already a dodgeball game? Even with a teacher as harsh as Alvis gave off an impression of being, Astrid was sure that that wouldn't happen until people started proving to be falling behind. That was like...one of those rules of PE classes. Oh well. She was confident enough in her own fitness to not make herself a target, at least.
The moment the whistle blew, Ollie excitedly ran off to grab one of the balls. She lobbed it to Astrid, who caught it and started skirting around the edges, looking for a good target. Seeing a mildly familiar blond kid on the other side go all-in on a throw, Astrid targeted him, but went for a much safer throw herself. No sense leaving herself open while neither team had the advantage.

Post by Meili Jie on Jul 19, 2014 5:51:48 GMT
Meili dropped the mound of dirt that held Saan. The little mole then started to dig over and move over so he could see his trainer, safe away from the arena of dodgeball. Meili sighed as she walked over with her team. She hated dodgeball in middle school. She wanted no part of this, screw this game!
For now, Meili is gonna be on the defense. Like hell she is going to participate in this ball throwing chaos...she sighed and started to try to inch away from the chaos. Meili hoped that someone would functiona s her shield but no such hopes were there. Action: Avoiding.

Dodgeball? Dodgeball! Well, that was exciting. Seria had known about this little game before, but she never fancied herself as particularly great at it. Regardless, she had to stay on her toes and she would have Zenith help in throwing balls. Unfortunately, any desire to throw dodgeballs at the opposing team was dashed as immediately Oleg and Cameron both threw fast balls directly at Seria, which prompted the Nature dormer to shoot glares at both of them. "Oh, come on! Do I look that threatening to you guys?" Seria rolled her eyes thereafter as she eyed Zenith and quickly ushered him to search for a ball, meanwhile Seria attempted to go on the defensive and try avoiding the fast balls lobbed at her. She decided to go rough and dirty, attempting dives if they were needed as she felt with the speed of the balls she could be caught out easily if she just attempted to side-step.
Seria opts to Avoid (90% Dodge Rate, 10% Catch Rate)

Sonia was a little ball of energy when the group moved to the dodgeball court. She had never gotten to play it herself, but had seen it being played many times. Quite honestly, she was looking to see just how effective she would be. When the man blew the whistle, the girl quickly ran to grab a ball before backing off. The key to this game seemed to be looking for easy targets to pick off. A lot of people were playing it safe. But Sonia? She wanted to get into the action head on. The girl was about to make a big throw, until she realized she was being targeted by another student. Attempting to dodge, the girl made a throw right back at him.
